The Government passed responsibility for housing, economic development and the Olympic legacy to London through the Localism Act 2011, in addition to transport, planning and the police already controlled by the Mayor. unstar this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to improving the local road network. Road improvements in Wales are a devolved matter and therefore the responsibility of the Welsh Government.</p><p> </p><p>The attached table includes funding we have provided through the local Highways Maintenance Block, Integrated Transport Block, Severe Weather Funding, Local Major Projects and Local Pinch Point Fund schemes. The table does not include funding provided through the Bus Service Operators Grant, Local Sustainable Transport Fund, or Cycling Grant.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is also funding local highways maintenance projects in Portsmouth, Birmingham, Sheffield, Isle of Wight and the London Borough of Hounslow through the Private Finance Initiative.</p><p> </p><p>Local authorities are also able to use revenue funding, allocated by the Department of Communities and Local Government through the Revenue Support Grant for maintaining their local highways. It is for local highway authorities to decide upon their spending priorities across the whole range of services that they provide.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

unstar this property answer text <p>It is important that the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in the World Wars, and other conflicts, is never forgotten and that the memorials to their sacrifice are well maintained.</p><p>The maintenance of local World War memorials is carried out by local authorities across the United Kingdom. Section 1 of the War Memorials (Local Authorities’ Powers) Act 1923 (which extends to Northern Ireland) provides for local authorities to incur reasonable expenditure in the maintenance, repair and protection of any war memorial within their district whether vested in them or not.</p><p>On 1 July 2014, my Rt hon Friends the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport announced details of a £5 million fund to conserve and protect war memorials. This funding will support a range of different projects including the provision of up to £3 million for the War Memorials Trust which works for the protection and conservation of war memorials within the United Kingdom to ensure they remain part of our communities forever.</p><p>The funding to the War Memorials Trust over the four year period of the First World War Centenary will boost support for their grant schemes and expand their team of specialist Conservation Officers.</p><p> </p>

unstar this property answer text <p /> <p>The coalition government recognises the devastating impact wildlife crime has on both the environment and in funding organised criminality, and we take the issue, both domestically and internationally, very seriously.<br> <br> We have changed recording practices to ensure that, for the first time, wildlife crime is reported as a separate item in police recorded crime. However, we recognise that the legislation could be modernised and simplified. That is why we have asked the Law Commission to consider the scope for reforming wildlife law.</p><p><br> Offenders found guilty of offences under wildlife protection legislation in the Suffolk Police Force Area and in England and Wales from 2009 to 2013 can be viewed in the table.</p><p> </p><p>Information cannot be separately identified by parliamentary constituency</p> more like this
