unstar this property answer text <p>I have secured collective agreement across Government to commit to introduce legislation to address the Commission’s ‘own motion’ legal standing under the Human Rights Act 1998, via its powers under the Northern Ireland Act 1998. This will happen at the earliest opportunity, before the end of 2019, to ensure it has the legal mandate to bring cases in its own name before the UK domestic courts.</p><p> </p><p>We are currently working through options for the appropriate legislative vehicle to deliver this fix at the earliest opportunity.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>As the Chancellor set out at the 2019 Spring Statement on 13 March, early stage negotiations for a Derry/Londonderry and Strabane City Region Deal are progressing well. The Government hopes to make an announcement in due course.</p><p> </p><p>Building on the Chancellor’s commitment to £350m towards the Belfast City Regions Deal in October, the Government is working closely with local partners and the Northern Ireland Civil Service to move to the next phase of the Deal and hopes to be in a position to agree Heads of Terms in due course.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Alongside the Confidence &amp; Supply Agreement, the UK Government committed £1 billion of financial support to Northern Ireland in support of strengthening the Northern Ireland economy and recognising that Northern Ireland has unique circumstances within the UK.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has so far allocated £430 million to the Northern Ireland block grant and expects the release of a further £333 million in 2019/20, subject to Parliament’s approval through the normal Estimates process. The remaining £237m will be allocated in due course.</p><p> </p><p>Allocations to departments are agreed as part of the Budget process with any funding filtered to local councils through a variety of funding streams, as appropriate. Specific detail on how much is allocated to local councils is not held centrally.</p> more like this

This reported that 64% of adults aged 16+ were either overweight (37%) or obese (27%). The full findings of the report are available on the Department of Health’s website.</p><p> </p><p>The Department’s current obesity prevention framework ‘<em>A Fitter Future for All 2012-2022’</em> recognises the need to improve food and nutrition and encourage physical activity among the population to reduce the prevalence of obesity. This framework is also available on the Department’s website.</p><p> </p><p>Northern Ireland does not use Clinical Commissioning Groups, and a tier three and tier four management service is not currently commissioned in NI. The NI Department of Health has established a task and finish group to explore options for the development of a regional prototype bariatric service.</p><p> </p> more like this
