That is why, on 19 May, I laid regulations to ensure abortion services are commissioned for women and girls in Northern Ireland. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/11/2021 answer text <p>I would like to take this opportunity to thank the medical professionals who have ensured that women and girls have had some local access to abortion services in Northern Ireland to date. These medical professionals have, however, not been properly supported by the commissioning of services in Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>The lack of workforce planning and training for abortion services in Northern Ireland reflects the ongoing failure to commission these services since the UK Government set out a framework that they should be delivered under in 2020.
