Member may wish to refer to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster’s statement to the House on <a href="https://hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2019-09-25/debates/B2BCE472-527C-4549-B23F-A34C4D8F4160/BrexitReadinessOperationYellowhammer" target="_blank">Brexit readiness and Operation Yellowhammer</a>, made on 25 September 2019 for more information relating to this question on the effects and mitigations to a no deal exit.</p><p>The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster also wrote to the Chair of the Commons EU Exit Committee on 25 September 2019 confirming a document outlining the no deal mitigations the Government has put in place and intends to put in place will be published in due course.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The Government continues to work with the Accessibility of Elections Working Group to make an informed assessment of the most suitable options to take forward. Officials are due to hold a meeting on this topic with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) very soon</p><p>Work has been undertaken to revise guidance to electoral administrators and, with input from RNIB, to research technical solutions which will be further discussed at a dedicated sub-group.</p><p>We are also starting to bring forward measures following the Government’s response to the 2018 Call for Evidence on Access to Elections. Proposals were announced during the Queen’s Speech. This will include increasing the range of support available to voters with disabilities in polling stations and allowing a wider range of people (such as carers) to assist disabled voters in polling stations if needed.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Misconduct in public office is an indictable offence under common law, and anyone considered to be a public officer (including civil servants) accused of such an offence could be tried before a jury in a Crown Court. <br>Any sanction imposed by the courts would be determined by the nature and severity of the case and subject to any minimum or maximum penalty thresholds relating to the specific offence being tried.</p><p>All civil servants are also subject to departmental conduct policies and the Civil Service Code which requires them to act with integrity, impartiality, honesty and objectivity. star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to scrapping the arbitrary rule preventing British citizens who have lived abroad for more than 15 years from participating in UK parliamentary elections.</p><p>That is why we supported Glyn Davies’ Private Members’ Bill on overseas electors. We were therefore disappointed the Bill did not progress through its Report stage in the Commons on 22 March 2019. Nevertheless, the Government remains committed to implementing votes for life.</p><p>Changes to the franchise require Parliamentary approval and have to be made significantly in advance of elections, to enable administrators to implement the change and to ensure citizens are aware of the change to their rights.</p><p>We will make an announcement on our intentions in due course.</p><p> </p> more like this

The pilots were run to give us a deeper understanding of how voter ID will work on a wider scale - and what works best for voters - before national roll-out.</p><p>The costs of testing models of voter ID as part of the 2018 pilots have already been published and the costs of testing voter ID as part of the 2019 pilots will be published when all accounts with the piloting authorities have been settled.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In law the UK is set to leave the EU on 31 October 2019. “Get Ready for Brexit” is a public information campaign providing the facts citizens and businesses need to know about the preparations they need to take to be ready for when the UK leaves the EU.</p><p>The campaign is a cross-government campaign using national advertising including TV, radio, press, digital and outdoor advertising. It also includes direct engagement and local elements including business preparedness events, ministerial visits and local authority activity.</p><p>The cost of the public information campaign will be published monthly on a rolling basis, as part of routine government transparency arrangements.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In January 2019, a judicial review was submitted to the High Court in Northern Ireland against the Boundary Commission for Northern Ireland’s final report</p><p><br>On 28 May, the Court issued its judgment, which concluded that the Boundary Commission had erred in law in the conduct of its consultation on the proposed new constituencies for Northern Ireland</p><p><br>Both parties in the judicial review have lodged an appeal against the Court’s judgment and the date of the appeal hearing is expected to be set later this year</p><p><br>The Government awaits the outcome of these legal proceedings. Primary legislation requires the boundary changes for the constituent nations of the United Kingdom be made at the same time.</p> more like this
