star this property answer text <p>The EU has legislated to allow British Citizens visa-free travel in the Schengen area for short-stays, such as for tourism, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This is the standard length of stay the EU offers to nationals of eligible third countries, in line with existing EU legislation.</p><p>The EU’s Schengen Borders Code governs the rules for entry and exit in the Schengen area.</p><p>The arrangements outlined in the Answer of 8 July 20201 to Question 25865 apply to those arriving in the UK under the Visitor Route regardless of their nationality. The only difference between visa and non-visa nationals being where the assessment against the rules takes place.</p><p>The generosity of these arrangements reflects the UK Government’s desire to welcome visitors who are key to Scotland’s hospitality and cultural sector, students taking short courses and those wishing to make visits of up to 6 months in length to see relatives here in the UK.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Visa nationals whose leave expired after the 24 January and who cannot leave the country because of travel restrictions or self-isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be able to extend their visa.</p><p>A dedicated COVID-19 immigration team has been set up within UKVI to make the process as straightforward as possible. Anyone in this situation just needs to contact this team, via the following email address, <a href="mailto:CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk" target="_blank">CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk</a>, to let them know their visa has expired and they will be issued with an extension.</p><p>This will last until 31 May, but will be kept under regular review in case further extensions are needed.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Home Office has already taken steps to prioritise any outstanding Family Reunion applications made by Afghan refugees in the UK.</p><p>The Home Office will not routinely expedite Afghan cases, as to do so would discriminate against other nationalities who may face similar risks, but we will consider cases on an individual basis to assess, in line with the existing approach on applications for Family Reunion, whether the risks presented mean the case should be expedited.</p> more like this
