star this property answer text <p>Maximum grants and loans for living and other costs for undergraduate students and maximum postgraduate disabled students’ allowances were increased for the 2020/21 academic year by the Office for Budget Responsibility forecast of inflation (RPI-X) for the first quarter of the 2021 calendar year, which was 2.9%.</p><p>The same increase was applied to maximum postgraduate master’s degree loans and postgraduate doctoral degree loans for students starting courses in the 2020/21 academic year.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Visa concessions for those on student (or Tier 4) visas allow for the provision of online learning for students outside the UK until 6 April 2022. These visa concessions have been implemented so that students have a greater degree of flexibility on when they travel into the UK, if required.</p><p>Students should look to travel to the UK in keeping with their course requirements and should speak to their education provider to understand these. Individual higher education providers make the decision about face-to-face learning in relation to students’ learning needs.</p><p>The government is working closely with the higher education sector to ensure that providers are prepared to support students who may wish to stay in their university accommodation over the holidays due to possible travel disruption as well as international students returning in January.</p><p>In addition, the government has liaised with the higher education sector throughout the COVID-19 outbreak to ensure they have been provided with the latest travel guidance that affects their international student population.</p><p>During the COVID-19 outbreak, the UK higher education sector has gone above and beyond to ensure that international students’ physical and mental health are prioritised. The government will continue to work alongside the higher education sector to ensure international students are supported throughout their time in higher education.</p>

star this property answer text <p>We have introduced two waiting time standards for children and young people with particular conditions and the National Health Service is on track to meet both of these.</p><p> </p><p>The first aims for 95% of children (up to 19 years old) with eating disorders to receive treatment within a week for urgent cases and four weeks for routine cases. 80.6% of children and young people’s eating disorder patients started urgent treatment within one week and 82.4% of patients started routine treatment within four weeks in the period January – March 2019.</p><p> </p><p>The second aims for 50% of patients of all ages experiencing a first episode of psychosis to receive treatment within two weeks of referral. Nationally, the National Health Service is exceeding the target with 76.7% of patients starting treatment within two weeks in May 2019.</p><p> </p><p>As set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, NHS England is piloting four week waiting times in 12 areas across the country to establish how to achieve a four week waiting time for all children and young people’s community mental health services.</p><p> </p><p>Under the Plan, NHS England will also ensure that specific waiting times targets for emergency mental health services for all, including children and young people, will take effect from 2020.</p><p> </p>

During the period of field-testing (from August 2019), performance against the 18-week standard will not be calculated or published for these providers or affected clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) to reflect the change in performance framework under which the commissioner requested services providers are operating. Data from these providers will still be used to calculate and publish performance against the 18-week standard at the regional and England level. The reporting arrangements for trusts following completion of the field-testing is dependent on the outcome of the testing and final recommendations made as part of the Clinical Review of Access Standards.</p><p> </p><p>Participating CCGs and providers are still required to follow 2019/20 Planning Guidance for managing improvements to elective care waiting times which are focused on reducing the size of the waiting list as a means to reducing patient waiting times. From April 2019, providers and commissioners will be fined £2,500 for each patient whose wait for treatment is more than 52 weeks. No other sanctions or penalties are in place.</p><p> </p>
