In London, there are over 9,300 nursing and midwifery vacancies. The majority of these are filled by bank and agency staff.</p><p>NHS Improvement and NHS Employers have been working in partnership to deliver a national programme of action to support National Health Service trusts to improve retention of the nursing and clinical workforce. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/07/2019 answer text <p>Capital Nurse is a National Health Service programme with over 90 projects working to support recruitment and retention of nurses in London<em>. </em>The Capital Nurse vision and objective is to ‘get nursing right for London’, so that London has the right number of nurses, with the right skills in the right place, working to deliver excellent nursing wherever it is needed. The programme is jointly sponsored by Health Education England, NHS England and NHS Improvement.</p><p>NHS Improvement and NHS Employers have been working in partnership to deliver a national programme of action to support NHS trusts to improve retention of the nursing and clinical workforce. This provides targeted support to trusts on key issues affecting retention, such as flexible working, supporting new starters and older workers, and development and career planning. Trusts’ commitment has enabled a national improvement in nursing turnover rates from 12.5% to 11.9% since the beginning of the programme (June 2017).</p><p>Around 1 million NHS workers are already benefiting from the Agenda for Change (3 year) pay and contract reform deal agreed last year. The Department also does not hold information on the number of incidents relating to failure to follow guidance on disclosing interests.</p><p>The General Medical Council (GMC) is the independent regulator of doctors in the United Kingdom. All UK registered doctors are expected to meet the professional standards set out in the GMC's guidance ‘Good Medical Practice’. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/07/2019 answer text <p>The allocation of funding to clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) to support them in commissioning services for their local population is one of the key duties of NHS England. The approach NHS England must take in setting allocations is outlined in the mandate from the Department which says:</p><p><em> </em></p><p>“The Government expects the principle of ensuring equal access for equal need to be at the heart of NHS England’s approach to allocating budgets.”</p><p> </p><p>The approach is also informed by NHS England’s duty to reduce inequalities to accessing services and the outcomes of care.</p><p> </p><p>These two aims are reflected in the target formula, which produces a target allocation or ‘fair share’ for each area, based on a complex assessment of factors such as demography, morbidity, deprivation, and the unavoidable cost of providing services in different areas. Therefore, local integrated care systems will be responsible for ensuring they have the necessary numbers of Parkinson’s (and other specialist) nurses to meet the needs of their local population.</p><p>The NHS interim People Plan was published on 3 June 2019, it puts staff at the heart of National Health Service policy and delivery and recognises the current shortage of nurses as the most urgent challenge facing the health system.</p><p>It calls for action to be taken now to make the NHS the best place to work, by reforming the culture and leadership and ensuring all staff (including nurses) feel supported and valued, in an effort to increase workforce recruitment and retention.</p><p>The interim Plan proposes to increase the number of newly qualified NHS nurses, support and retain existing nurses, provide nurses with every opportunity to return to work, and bring in nurses from abroad.
