	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/07/2019 answer text <p>The Geospatial Commission launched two pilots in April 2019 (one led by Ordnance Survey in the North East of England; the other by the Greater London Authority in six local authorities in London) to test the feasibility of creating a national underground asset register showing the location of underground pipes, cables and ducts to help reduce costly utility strikes and improve worker safety. Both pilots are making good progress and are scheduled to complete on time in March 2020.</p><p>Regular programme updates are provided to relevant stakeholders. The outputs of the pilots will include a data sharing agreement framework, inventory reports of existing data, a common data model, recommended requirements for a national build and findings from use case testing. 	question text	To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what steps he is taking to simplify Government procurement processes to increase access to contracts by small and medium-sized enterprises.

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/07/2019 answer text <p>We have already made a number of changes to procurement processes to assist small businesses and we continue to focus on breaking down the barriers to entry for SMEs. These include:</p><p>○ Increasing the transparency of opportunities via Contracts Finder, a free-to-use digital platform which covers current and future public sector contracts and award notices above £10,000 in central government and £25,000 in the wider public sector. <br>○ Requiring public buyers to divide contracts into more accessible lots (or explain why not);<br>○ Our Public Procurement Review Service, allows suppliers to report poor procurement practice including payment issues in public sector contracts and through supply chains to the Cabinet Office.</p><p>In September 2019, tough new prompt payment measures come into force which may lead to suppliers being excluded from Government procurements if they cannot demonstrate prompt payment.</p> answering member constituency Hertsmere answering member printed Oliver Dowden question first answered 24/07/2019 08:16:19 answering member 4441 label Biography information for Oliver Dowden
