	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/07/2022 answer text The Foreign Secretary spoke to her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi shortly before COP26 in Glasgow and pressed for China to submit an ambitious Chinese nationally determined contribution to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) ahead of the Summit. In March this year, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of action and cooperation on climate change in his call with President Xi Jinping. COP President Alok Sharma has engaged regularly with China's Special Representative for Climate Change Affairs, Xie Zhenhua, most recently in a bilateral meeting in June, where they discussed progress in implementing our respective climate commitments. This included the Glasgow Climate Pact, and how to deliver further climate action and ambition ahead of COP27. The UK is committed to rapid, equitable access to safe and effective vaccines, treatments, and tests globally. As the multilateral mechanism set up to support international co-operation of COVID vaccines, COVAX is best placed to allocate any surplus vaccine the UK has, based on where it is most needed and where it will be most effective.</p><p>The UK has put together a package focusing on India's most urgent needs, including oxygen concentrators, ventilators, and oxygen generating units. The first shipment was delivered on 27 April. On 2 May, the Prime Minister announced that the UK would send a further 1,000 ventilators to support India's response, these arrived in Delhi on 9 May bringing the total package of equipment to 495 oxygen concentrators, 1,200 ventilators and three oxygen generating units.</p><p>There is also extensive scientific and medical collaboration underway. Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty and Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Patrick Vallance have spoken to their Indian counterparts to provide advice, insight and expertise to the Indian healthcare system as it deals with the surge in Covid-19 cases. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/11/2023 answer text <p>We have no means of independently assessing the impact of the crisis on medical services however we are aware of World Health Organisation (WHO) reporting on the significant impact the crisis is having on the delivery of medical services and wider aid. The UK continuously assesses needs as part of our humanitarian response in Gaza and there is an urgent requirement for the entry of significantly more aid. At this stage, we are focused on getting more aid through the Rafah crossing and other land routes, which is the most effective way of getting humanitarian support in at scale. We are also urging Israel to open other border crossings, such as Kerem Shalom, to enable more humanitarian aid to reach civilians in need. An independent foundation is being established by humanitarian experts outside the Government to manage and distribute the funds for humanitarian purposes in Ukraine. A licence application will need to be made to move the funds to the foundation once established. The relationship with the Overseas Territories is based on partnership. Policy on marriage law is an area of devolved responsibility.</p><p>The majority of Overseas Territories have legal recognition and protection for same sex relationships, either through marriage or through civil partnerships as is the case in Bermuda. In 2020 the Governor of the Cayman Islands enacted civil partnership legislation to recognise same-sex partnerships in order to comply with the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal. The UK was one of the first countries to announce funding (£1.5m) to respond to the humanitarian need. We have now increased this to £16.5 million to support flood relief efforts. The UK contribution is also now over 10% of the joint UN and Government of Pakistan emergency appeal ($160m). A UK International Search and Rescue team arrived in Gaziantep on 7 February and commenced operations within the critical 72-hour rescue window. From 14 February, we deployed a world-class UK medical team, field clinic and field hospital to Turkey, which continues to treat patients. In Syria, the UK-aid-funded White Helmets mobilised a major search and rescue effort. We have dispatched thousands of vital items including tents and blankets to Turkey and Syria. The Disasters Emergency Committee appeal, now exceeding £93 million, includes £5 million of the UK Aid Match. The UK's policy is not to sponsor or support the issuing of any exploitation licences for deep sea mining projects unless and until there is sufficient scientific evidence about the potential impact on deep sea ecosystems, and strong enforceable environmental Regulations, Standards and Guidelines have been developed by the International Seabed Authority (ISA) and are in place. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/04/2021 answer text <p>The UK is committed to rapid equitable access to safe and effective vaccines, and has committed £548 million to the COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC), which is the international initiative to support global equitable access to vaccines, of which the UK is one of the largest bilateral donors. Our commitment has helped encourage other donors to commit $1 billion by the end of 2020, and will contribute to the supply of at least 1.3 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines in 2021 for up to 92 developing countries. Over 100 countries and territories have received COVAX deliveries. The Prime Minister has also said that the UK will share the majority of future vaccine doses surplus to domestic needs with COVAX.</p><p>The COVAX AMC aims to supply fully subsidised doses sufficient to vaccinate up to 20 per cent of country populations, initially prioritising healthcare workers, and then expanding to cover other priority groups. Countries will then be able to procure additional subsidised doses, subject to vaccine availability, to increase coverage further. COVAX is supporting countries to assess vaccine introduction readiness, and to develop detailed national deployment and vaccination plans, including support needed to strengthen delivery systems.
