We believe they are best placed to know what is required in their communities. To increase opportunities for young people to benefit from open access youth services and youth social action, Government is investing £80 million, in partnership the National Lottery Community Fund, through the Youth Investment and #iwill Funds.</p><p> </p><p>A public call for evidence as part of the review of the guidance which sets out the statutory duty placed on local authorities to provide appropriate local youth services will be announced in due course. We expect that the review will provide greater clarity of Government’s expectations, including the value added by good youth work. <strong> </strong></p> more like this

We believe they are best placed to know what is required in their communities.</p><p> </p><p>On 10th July this year, my department launched the review of the guidance which sets out the statutory duty placed on local authorities to provide appropriate local youth services. Preliminary roundtables were held with youth sector organisations and young people through the Government’s Youth Steering Group, focussing on the strengths and weaknesses of the current guidance. A public call for evidence as the next step of this process will be announced in due course.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Three new youth voice projects were announced in February to encourage young people to participate in making national policy:</p><p> </p><p>- Youth Steering Group</p><p>- Young Inspectors Group</p><p>- Digital Youth engagement research</p><p> </p><p>The Youth Steering Group has already been involved in discussing the Government’s future offer for young people and the review of the guidance which sets out the statutory duty placed on local authorities to provide appropriate local youth services. The Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy invited the Youth Steering Group to conduct a review of environment and climate policy. Young people are also contributing to policy development on serious violence through the Government’s Youth Advisory Forum on Serious Violence .</p><p> </p><p>The Young Inspectors Group are participating in the monitoring and evaluation of national programmes affecting young people.</p><p> </p><p>The Digital Youth Engagement research explored how new digital solutions can enable large numbers of young people to play a role in consultations and policy design across government.</p><p> </p><p>We will make further announcements on these pioneering Youth Voice projects in due course</p>

unstar this property answer text <p>Youth services and their strategic partners provide crucial preventative and targeted interventions and are an important partner in the strategy to tackle serious violence.</p><p> </p><p>My Department allocated over £863m between 2014/15 and 2018/19 to youth programmes providing positive activities for young people.</p><p> </p><p>The Home Office’s £200m Youth Endowment Fund will deliver a ten-year programme of grants enabling interventions targeted at those who are most at risk of involvement in crime and violence in England and Wales. This follows an investment of £22m by the Home Office between 2018/19 and 2019/20 through the Early Intervention Youth Fund to support community services which deter young people from violent crime.</p><p> </p><p>Her Majesty’s Government will continue to work together closely to implement the Home Office’s Serious Violence Strategy.</p> more like this
