	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/07/2023 answer text <p>The department meets regularly with the gambling industry and its representatives, where this issue has previously been raised.</p><p>Data provided to the Commission by some of the largest gambling companies shows that those firms approve, process and fulfil around 99% of customer withdrawal requests within 24 to 48 hours of the request being made. However, problems with withdrawing funds from gambling accounts remain the most common topic raised by people contacting the Gambling Commission’s Contact Centre.</p><p>The Commission’s licence conditions and codes of practice contain a number of provisions to ensure operators treat their customers in a fair and open way. As part of its responsibilities it issues a social responsibility code, including the requirement that operators identify and interact with customers who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing harm.</p><p>In 2021, the Gambling Commission closed a consultation and call for evidence on Remote Customer Interaction, including the specific issue of affordability checks. In its consultation response, the Commission confirmed it will conduct a further consultation on specific steps operators should take to tackle three key risks associated with financial harm. The government has recently launched a consultation on expanding the scheme to include a wider range of assets in the insurance and pensions, investment and wealth management, and securities sectors. Dormant betting accounts are not currently being considered as part of the expansion. The consultation invites comment on the government's proposals, including the range of assets proposed for inclusion. A safer gambling advertising campaign was one of a range of measures to strengthen protections around gambling advertising and more widely, to ensure that the sector is socially responsible and doing all it can to protect consumers.</p><p> </p><p>The campaign was launched in February and the initial message, ‘Bet Regret’, is aimed at reducing risky or impulsive betting on sports, particularly by young men. Campaign activity has been closely monitored and a tracking study conducted at the end of the first burst of TV advertising suggests that the campaign is well-targeted and is effectively reaching the intended audience.
