star this property answer text <p>On 4 June 2019, the UK Space Agency announced its intention to award up to £7.85 million, subject to business case, to Spaceport Cornwall and US operator Virgin Orbit to develop facilities and operational capabilities that would enable small satellite launch from Cornwall in the early 2020s.</p><p> </p><p>In May 2019, the UK Space Agency also opened a £2 million Horizontal Spaceport Development Fund to assist future horizontal spaceports with their plans for small satellite launch and sub-orbital flight. The deadline for applications closed on 17 July, and the UK Space Agency is currently reviewing submitted proposals. Grant awards will be announced in due course.</p> more like this

In the <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/local-industrial-strategies-policy-prospectus" target="_blank">policy prospectus</a> published in October 2018, we set out that Local Industrial Strategies should be the product of consultation with businesses, a broad range of public partners and civil society. In addition to this, the <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/strengthened-local-enterprise-partnerships" target="_blank">‘Strengthened Local Enterprise Partnerships’ Review</a> published in July 2018 made clear that Local Enterprise Partnerships should operate to the highest standards of accountability and transparency and ensure the communities they represent can influence the economic plans for the area.</p><p> </p><p>To be successful, Local Industrial Strategies must be developed from the bottom up and led by those who best know the needs of local economies. This locally led approach means Local Enterprise Partnerships and Mayoral Combined Authorities should choose how they work in partnership with both public and private stakeholders and determine the best way to consult the public. This consists of £43 in reduced energy consumption and £12 in reduced replacement costs (given LED bulbs last around 7.5 times longer than traditional halogen bulbs). Our analysis suggests that there are approximately 35 bulbs in an average household, so savings will be around £125 per year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government has made significant progress in decarbonising the electricity sector. Around a third (33%) of the electricity generated in 2018 came from renewables, up from 29.3% in 2017.</p><p> </p><p>Support provided to renewables through a range of policies such as the Renewables Obligation, the Feed-in Tariff, and Contracts for Difference has resulted in a diverse mix of renewable technologies. This includes wind, solar, hydro, bioenergy and more.</p><p> </p><p>In order to meet our net-zero ambitions, we will continue to support the roll out of new renewables generation. We announced last year our intention to hold CfD allocation rounds around every 2 years which could see 1-2 gigawatts of new offshore wind every year in the 2020s.</p> more like this
