star this property answer text <p>Goal 10 is to reduce inequality within and between countries, and so responsibility for delivery is shared across Government. For example, the Office for Disability Issues in the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) leads on disability policy, the Race Disparity Unit in the Cabinet Office is key to our approach on race equality, DWP and HM Treasury are responsible for addressing income inequality within the UK, and the Department for International Development leads on tackling inequality between countries.</p><p>To aid transparency, all Departments are expected to set out how their activity aligns to the Goals in their Single Departmental Plans. The Government Equalities Office is coordinating reporting for Goal 10 across Government for the Voluntary National Review this year.</p> more like this

Over the last couple of months we have been consulting with a number of charities and other experts on the most effective way for us to use the taskforce.</p><p> </p><p>I will be chairing the taskforce alongside two leading experts in the sector, alongside a number of enthusiastic and skilled experts. star this property answer text <p>We are considering the scope for further legislative protections for people with mental health conditions. This includes working with the Department for Health and Social Care to assess the merits of amending the Equality Act 2010, where this would improve protections for people with fluctuating mental health conditions.</p><p> </p><p>The Equality Act 2010 already protects people whose mental health conditions meet the definition of disability in the Act, specifically a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial and long-term adverse effect on a person’s ability to carry out normal day to day activities’.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Sexual harassment is completely unacceptable - both inside and outside the workplace - and unlawful under the Equality Act 2010 and Protection from Harassment Act 1997.</p><p> </p><p>We are working with the Equality and Human Rights Commission on a new statutory code of practice on sexual harassment, due this year. This will help all employers better understand the law on this issue, and should enable them to better identify and prevent sexual harassment.</p><p> </p><p>We are also helping Acas update the guidance it provides on sexual harassment in the workplace.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>It is important we use the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia to remember the countless LGBT people who faced persecution during the Holocaust.</p><p> </p><p>The Government, with cross-party support, has committed to build a new national Memorial to the Holocaust with a Learning Centre, alongside the Houses of Parliament. The Memorial will stand as a reminder to all in Parliament, and the whole nation, of our responsibility to remain vigilant against all forms of intolerance and bigotry.</p><p> </p><p>Recognising their suffering and the injustices LGBT people continue to face should, of course, not simply be about gestures; it must translate into action. That is why the Government set out commitments in the LGBT Action Plan to promote the representation of LGBT people in public life.</p> more like this
