	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/03/2019 answer text <p>Higher Education providers have legal responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 to support disabled students, including those with visual impairments, for example, by making reasonable adjustments. The responsibility to support students should include communicating what support and services are available. Alongside this, eligible students can receive support through Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs), which can help with the costs of additional learning-related equipment, personal support and travel disabled students may incur. Visually impaired students eligible for DSAs receive specialist professional support, for example in making the best use of specialist equipment and in modifying learning materials into accessible formats.</p><p>I recently met organisations who represent visually impaired students, and agreed that the department will work with them to ensure the support available through DSAs continues to enable visually impaired students to participate fully in higher education.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency Kingswood answering member printed Chris Skidmore question first answered 05/03/2019 11:26:30 answering member 4021 label Biography information for Chris Skidmore

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/03/2019 answer text <p>In relation to qualifications, this is a matter for Ofqual, the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation. I have asked its Chief Regulator, Sally Collier, to write to the Hon. Member and a copy of her reply will be placed in the Libraries of both Houses. <br> <br> Ofqual regulates statutory national curriculum assessments. In doing this they have two statutory objectives: to promote the development and implementation of national assessments which give a reliable indication of achievement and indicate a consistent level of attainment, including over time, between comparable assessments; and to promote public confidence in national assessments. Ofqual has no specific powers to follow up with the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) if there are mistakes in national tests. Modified tests are developed by a Modified Test Agency contracted to STA, who conduct Quality Assurance proofing at different stages in the development of materials. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/04/2019 answer text <p>The Children and Families Act (2014) requires local authorities to work with parents, young people, and providers to keep the provision for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities under review, including its sufficiency.</p><p>We do not prescribe in detail how local authorities should allocate their high needs funding. In consultation with schools and other services, local authorities should consider carefully how best to meet the needs of children and young people in their area, including those with vision impairment.</p><p>To support local authorities, in December 2018 we announced an additional £250 million high needs funding up to 2020, on top of the funding increases we had already committed.
