star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence's Management of Health and Safety Regulations requires special attention to identifying and controlling health and safety risks to young persons in the workplace. Many of these are covered by existing risk assessment and control measures, but the employing branch will identify any additional control measures/changes required in accordance with the normal risk assessment process.</p><p>All Armed Forces personnel are trained for a wide range of operational tasks and environments, including combat. Established procedures are in place to ensure that Service personnel under the age of 18 are not deployed on operations. Our policies on under 18s in Service are robust and comply with national and international law.</p><p>Commanding Officers take their responsibilities towards their personnel extremely seriously. Commanding Officers pay close attention to the needs of under 18s as they pass from recruitment through Phase 1 and Phase 2 training, to operational units.</p>

Cleaning and catering services within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) are provided through a number of facilities management contracts. Information on the rates of remuneration for cleaners and caterers is held by facilities management contractors and not by the Department.</p><p> </p><p>MOD guards have the same terms and conditions and pay scales as the wider MOD Civil Service. The MOD Guard Service comprises approximately 1,800 E2 grades and 200 E1 grades. Of these, 15 are duplicate entries, which means that some incidents will have been recorded on more than one occasion likely because of the incomplete nature of Non-Governmental Organisation and media reporting upon which the MOD relies to update the &quot;Tracker&quot;.</p><p>The MOD does not assess allegations of IHL violations. This figure includes both specified injuries and serious injuries (as defined by the Health &amp; Safety Executive) and, both very serious injuries and serious injuries (as reported through the Notification of Casualties system).</p><p> </p><p>In the period from 1 January 2013 to 24 January 2019, one Service Inquiry (SI) was convened solely for the purpose of investigating a serious injury occurring during a training exercise or selection event, where there were no fatalities. The circumstances resulting in a serious injury, without fatality, are unlikely to justify an SI. Where necessary, lessons may be learned without the need for an SI. JSP 832 (Guide to Service Inquiries) sets out the policy on when an SI should be convened. star this property answer text <p>In the period from 1 January 2013 to 31 August 2018 a total of 29 deaths among UK Armed Forces personnel occurred whilst on training or exercise. The Ministry of Defence publishes Official Statistics on this matter at the following address: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/training-and-exercise-deaths-in-the-uk-armed-forces-2018" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/training-and-exercise-deaths-in-the-uk-armed-forces-2018</a>.</p><p> </p><p>In the period from 1 January 2013 to 30 September 2018, 7,828 UK Armed Forces personnel were involved in 8,732 incidents resulting in serious injuries whilst on training or exercise. This figure includes both specified injuries and serious injuries (as defined by the Health &amp; Safety Executive) and, both very serious injuries and serious injuries (as reported through the Notification of Casualties system).</p><p> </p><p>In the period from 1 January 2013 to 24 January 2019, one Service Inquiry (SI) was convened solely for the purpose of investigating a serious injury occurring during a training exercise or selection event, where there were no fatalities. The circumstances resulting in a serious injury, without fatality, are unlikely to justify an SI. Where necessary, lessons may be learned without the need for an SI. JSP 832 (Guide to Service Inquiries) sets out the policy on when an SI should be convened. Friend the then Secretary of State for Defence (Sir Michael Fallon) said on the 19 December 2016 (Official Report 618, column 1216), the Royal Saudi Air Force has operated UK-supplied Typhoon and Tornado aircraft in Yemen and used Paveway, Dual Mode Brimstone, Storm Shadow and ALARM munitions.</p><p>The Saudi-led Coalition confirmed that a limited number of UK-manufactured BL-755 munitions were dropped in Yemen but that these UK manufactured munitions would be no longer used.</p> more like this
