However, it is a fundamental and longstanding principle of our system of Government that the fact of whether the Law Officers have advised on a particular issue is, by convention, not disclosed outside Government, without their consent. The Convention provides the fullest guarantee that government business will be conducted at all times in light of thorough and candid legal advice in circumstances in which Ministers and Law Officers can be fully open with one another.</p><p>The Government is committed to tackling modern slavery in supply chains. On 26 March 2020, we became the first country to publish a Government Modern Slavery Statement setting out the steps we have taken to identify and prevent modern slavery in our own supply chains. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/02/2023 answer text <p>The Government has put in place a comprehensive R&amp;D and capital investment programme to deliver a UK led solution to the decarbonisation of road transport.</p><p> </p><p>Government and industry have jointly committed more than £1.3 billion to support innovative projects through the Advanced Propulsion Centre, accelerating the commercialisation of strategically important vehicle technologies. Alongside this ambitious R&amp;D programme, the Government is committed to growing our electric vehicle supply chain. That is why in 2021 the Net Zero Strategy announced £350m of funding for the Automotive Transformation Fund. Full due diligence was completed before a final grant offer letter was awarded.</p><p>Funding was designed so that agreed milestones had to be achieved for the company to drawdown any funds.  These milestones were not met and therefore no ATF funds were paid to Britishvolt.</p><p>The Government want to ensure the UK remains one of the best locations in the world for automotive manufacturing as we transition to electric vehicles. We have recruited 700 new staff to work on EU Exit Policy.</p><p> </p><p>We are in the process of delivering a huge secondary legislation programme to ensure a functioning statute book on exit day. As of today, BEIS has laid 62 exit related statutory instruments, including new laws for a nuclear safeguards regime that will maintain the UK industry’s ability to trade in the nuclear sector while ensuring the UK remains on track to meet its international obligations on day one of exit, and plan to lay the remaining instruments by the end of this month.</p><p> </p><p>We have also published 28 technical notices, including on oil and gas, climate change, company law and state aid. These will continue to be updated.</p><p> </p><p>BEIS also continues to work closely with the rest of government on EU Exit issues, to ensure a cohesive approach is taken to support businesses. BEIS has contributed to cross-government information programmes, such as helping to develop the EU Exit business Q&amp;A tool, which was been used over 20,000 times.</p><p> </p><p>BEIS continues to meet with key stakeholders across all sectors to inform our approach and will continue to use their expertise.
