unstar this property answer text <p>In April 2017, we made significant reforms to the Horserace Betting Levy by fixing the Levy rate at 10% and extending the scope of the Levy to include offshore online bookmakers for the first time. These reforms resulted in an extra £45m in statutory Levy income for 2017/18 to support the racing industry and we expect a similar uplift for 2018/19.</p><p> </p><p>The uplift in income from the reformed Levy has contributed to record prize money of £142.5m in 2017/18 and has also provided increased funding for equine welfare, industry recruitment and training, and measures related to veterinary science and education.</p><p> </p><p>We note the Parliamentary Scrutiny committees’ reports regarding proposed changes to the administration of the reformed Levy and will consider them carefully.</p> more like this

Material is also available online to help employers advertise that they are active participants of Kickstart.</p><p> </p><p>There has been active engagement with public, private and voluntary sector organisations to encourage their participation as Kickstart gateways and over 400 have stepped forward indicating their interest in the role. unstar this property answer text <p>The department has published a list of organisations willing to act as gateway organisations, nationally and by region, to better allow small and medium-sized employers to find a Kickstart gateway. This list is available, online, through the gov.uk pages.</p><p> </p><p>Officials have held a number of discussions with representatives from the Liverpool Local Enterprise Partnership, which represents businesses in the St Helens area. And local JobCentre Plus staff are also meeting with employers and organisations in their area. This engagement will promote and encourage participation in the Kickstart Scheme.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>As of 3<sup>rd</sup> March 2022, 270 jobs have been made available and 240 jobs have been started in St Helens North constituency through the Kickstart scheme. In addition, 730 jobs have been made available and 500 jobs have been started in St Helens Metropolitan Borough.</p><p>Although care is taken when processing and analysing Kickstart applications, referrals and starts, the data collected might be subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large-scale recording system, which has been developed quickly.</p><p>The management information presented here has not been subjected to the usual standard of quality assurance associated with official statistics but is provided in the interests of transparency. Work is ongoing to improve the quality of information available for the programme.</p> more like this
