Following this assessment, the department found that this approach would be both prohibitively expensive and would offer poor value for money.

The current arrangements, whereby support is provided by local authorities, transport providers, schools and colleges, alongside the 16-19 Bursary Fund, are the most cost effective solutions, and they enable local government and other organisations to tailor support in the most appropriate way according to local circumstances and needs.
more like this

The Foreign Secretary said on 5 October, that the protests send a clear message that the Iranian people are not satisfied with the path their government have taken. Iran's leaders must now listen. On 3 October, the Foreign Secretary instructed the FCDO to summon Iran's most senior diplomat in the UK to condemn the Iranian authorities' violent crackdown on protests following the death of Mahsa Amini. We call on Iran to respect the right to peaceful assembly, exercise restraint and release unfairly detained protesters.
more like this

This has resulted in the further displacement of vulnerable people, many of whom are now in areas where the security situation is more volatile and resources are more likely to be unavailable or overstretched.

We, alongside international partners, regularly raise these camp closures with the Borno State Governor and stress the need for IDPs to be supported in line with the Kampala convention. England

Footnotes

1 The National Statistics definition of suicide is given in the 'Guidance' worksheet.

2 Figures are for persons aged 10 years and over.

3 Age-specific suicide rate per 100,000 population.

4 The lower (LCL) and upper (UCL) 95% confidence limits have been provided. These form a confidence interval, which is a measure of the statistical precision of an estimate and shows the range of uncertainty around the estimated figure. Calculations based on small numbers of events are often subject to random fluctuations. As a general rule, if the confidence interval around one figure overlaps with the interval around another, we cannot say with certainty that there is more than a chance difference between the two figures.

5 Age-specific rates were not calculated where there were fewer than 3 deaths and these are marked with “:” to inform the users that the rate has been suppressed. It is our best practice not to calculate rates based on such small numbers, as they are imprecise and susceptible to inaccurate interpretation. Age-specific rates based on 3 to 19 deaths are marked with a “u” to warn users that their reliability is low.

6 The area is based on the persons usual residence as provided by the informant upon registration in England and Wales. Figures for England and Wales separately (area codes E92000001 and W92000004 respectively) exclude death of non-residents and are based on the latest available postcode boundaries (May 2021).

7 Figures are for deaths registered, rather than deaths occurring in each calendar year. Due to the length of time it takes to complete a coroner’s inquest, it can take months or even years for a suicide to be registered. More details can be found in the latest 'Suicides in the UK' statistical bulletin:
