answer text <p>Calls to 101 cost 15p from a mobile device or landline phones, from anywhere in the country and regardless of duration. Calls are free from payphones.</p><p>The public have always paid to contact the police by telephone for non-emergencies and the 15p charge per call is a transparent rate that fully funds the 101 non-emergency service. Police non-emergency numbers (such as 0845 numbers) which were used before 2011 could cost members of the public up to 40p per minute. While it may not be an option for everyone, the public can also report non-emergency crimes online via forces’ websites.</p><p>The Home Office has no plans to bring forward legislation to remove current charges from the 101 non-emergency number.</p><p>The Home Office is supporting the digital transformation of policing through programmes such as the Digital Policing Portfolio (DPP), led by the NPCC. Within the DPP, the Digital Public Contact programme aims to provide appropriate digital channels for the public to report and track crime online, facilitating greater public-police interaction in real time.</p>

answer text <p>In the period up to March 2018 Action Fraud recorded 277,561 crimes (Source: ONS – April 17 to March 18). The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), which analyses crimes recorded by Action Fraud, cannot directly task Regional Organised Crime Units.</p><p>In light of which crimes are allocated to forces as per the rules set out in the Home Office Counting Rules. In the same period (April 17 to March 18) the NFIB disseminated 53,574 crimes to Police forces (a), a further 120 crimes were sent direct to Regional Organised Crime Units as a result of the NFIB being aware of an ongoing investigation which was being undertaken by them.</p><p>A considerable number of the crimes will have been perpetrated by the same criminal group.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Action Fraud provide online and telephone based services which enable the reporting of both fraud and cyber dependent crime.</p><p>Between October 2017 and September 2018 the service received 505,497 calls.</p><p>Of these callers, 314,668 callers spoke to a member of staff. The 190,829 callers that did not speak to a member of staff will include callers that chose to use the online service or callers who waited but did not receive an answer.</p><p>505,587 reports were made in this period, by phone or online, of which 318,629 were classified as crimes as set out in the Home Office Counting Rules. In the same period 57,181 crimes were disseminated for enforcement, by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), which analyses reports of crime made via Action Fraud. answer text <p>The Home Office collects statistics on the number of fraud cases reported to Action Fraud by each Police Force Area on a quarterly basis. These data are published as Experimental statistics in the Office for National Statistics ‘Crime in England and Wales’ statistical bulletins.</p><p>The table provided goes back to the year ending March 2015, the earliest year that fraud data was available by Police Force Area.</p><p>The next release of the ‘Crime in England and Wales’ statistical bulletin is due to be published on 24th January and will include fraud cases reported to Action Fraud for the year ending September 2018.</p> more like this
