answer text <p>DCMS and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) actively manage the potential risks to the UK telecoms industry, and security is part of the 5G Testbeds and Trials programme. Furthermore, DCMS is leading a cross-government review into the supply chain arrangements for the UK’s telecoms infrastructure. The terms of reference are available here (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/telecoms-supply-chain-review-terms-of-reference). The Review will consider the full UK market position, including the resilience and security standards of equipment for 5G.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We are clear that spectrum should be used efficiently and effectively, given its importance to the economy. In the Future Telecoms Infrastructure Review, the Government stated its view that the development of a set of innovative 5G services and new investment models may require more flexible approaches to spectrum licensing. We have read the report with interest. Ofcom, as the national regulatory authority, is responsible for managing spectrum and ensuring that radio spectrum is used in the most effective way.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In the second chapter of the Government's Childhood Obesity Plan, published in June, we committed to consult by the end of 2018 on introducing a 9pm watershed on TV advertising of HFSS products and similar protection for children viewing adverts online - with the aim of limiting children’s exposure to HFSS advertising, and incentivising sugar and calorie reduction.</p><p> </p><p>Alcohol advertising is not in scope for this work because the consultation is focused on products that children consume.</p><p> </p><p>As with HFSS advertising, alcohol advertising in the UK is regulated by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), the industry’s independent regulator, who enforce the Advertising Codes through a system of self-regulation and co-regulation with Ofcom. The Codes apply to all media, including broadcast and online, and set standards for accuracy and honesty to which advertisers are expected to adhere, including specific conditions on advertising to children, causing offence and social responsibility.</p><p> </p><p>The Codes recognise the social imperative of ensuring alcohol advertising is responsible. They are regularly reviewed and updated by the industry to ensure they remain effective, and proposed changes to the Codes are routinely subject to public consultation. The Codes currently state that alcohol advertising must not be targeted at people under 18 and “should not imply, condone or encourage immoderate, irresponsible or anti-social drinking.</p>

answer text <p>Considerable progress has been made implementing the £150m government and industry commitments set out in the Creative Industries Sector Deal. The winners of the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Creative Industries Clusters Fund are due to be announced this month; both the Audiences of the Future programme and the Cultural Development Fund are underway; and further detail on the DCMS funded Creative Careers and Investment Readiness programmes are to be published shortly. answer text <p>The Prime Minister has been clear that as we leave the EU, free movement of people will end. A new, skills-based immigration system will be introduced to ensure we continue to attract the talented people we need.</p><p> </p><p>We know that continued access to international talent and skills is a key concern for the creative industries as we leave the EU. The UK recognises that mobility is important to the creative and cultural sector, with the inclusion of a specific reference to the importance of mobility for creative, cultural and sporting cooperation in the White Paper on the Future Relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union.</p><p> </p><p>The government will set out further detail on the UK’s future immigration system in due course, taking into account the findings of the Migration Advisory Committee. Any future mobility arrangements agreed on a reciprocal basis with the EU will be consistent with ending free movement, and my department will continue to work closely with the Home Office to ensure the needs of the creative industries are heard.</p>
