	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/01/2019 answer text <p>The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is leading a project looking at the health impacts of living in cold homes.</p><p> </p><p>BEIS is working in collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions, Public Health England and NHS Digital to understand and quantify the cost to the health service arising from households that underheat their homes requiring more hospital care, compared to similar households who heat their homes adequately. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/09/2019 answer text <p>Our consultation on <em>Overcoming the barriers to longer tenancies</em> sought views on the potential benefits of longer tenancies in the private rented sector. A number of people responded that increased security would improve tenants’ mental health and well-being. In particular, respondents mentioned that fewer house moves could help tenants have better access to local amenities, such as schools and GP clinics, and feel more integrated into their communities.</p><p>Earlier this year, the Government announced its commitment to improve security for renters, and intends to introduce a new, fairer deal for both tenants and landlords.</p><p>As part of this new deal, we will put an end to ‘no-fault’ evictions by repealing section 21 of the Housing Act 1988. Under the new framework, a tenant cannot be evicted from their home without good reason, providing tenants with more stability, and enabling them to put down roots and plan for the future.</p><p>On the 21<sup>st</sup> July we launched a 12 week consultation on the details of our proposals. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/03/2020 answer text <p>A high-quality, safe, and suitable home can help people stay independent and healthy for longer, whilst reducing health and social care costs.</p><p>The Department funds the Disabled Facilities Grant to support older and disabled people on low-incomes to adapt their homes to make them suitable for their needs. It was recently announced that funding for 2020-21 will be maintained at £505 million.</p><p>We also provide funding to build specialised housing - through the Care and Support Specialised Housing Fund, with up to £76 million available in 2019-20.</p><p>With reference to new mainstream housing, the Home of 2030 is a cross-government initiative between Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Department of Health and Social Care to bring forward the design and delivery of high-quality homes which are energy efficient, inclusively designed, and suitable for all generations. It estimated that investment to improve the thermal performance of these homes would cost £6 billion. They also estimated that poor housing in England generated first year NHS treatment costs of £1.4 billion annually. The wider cost to society (including medical costs, lost education and employment opportunities) of poor housing was £18.6 billion.</p><p>The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is leading a project looking at the health impacts of living in cold homes.</p><p>The Fuel Poverty Strategy for England includes a vulnerability principle and Government has consulted on updating this principle so that it focuses specifically on households that are most at risk to the impact of living in a cold home.
