star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of UK and EU citizens. Our intention remains to establish a comprehensive and legally binding agreement on internal security which would enable continuing cooperation based on EU measures.</p><p>However, we are preparing for all eventualities. In a no-deal scenario, UK law enforcement agencies will use well-established alternative mechanisms to co-operate with partners on a police-to-police basis. This will include use of the INTERPOL secure network and pre-existing bi-lateral channels to facilitate police cooperation on child abduction cases.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <table><tbody><tr><td><p>Mindfulness-based therapy techniques are used in prisons in England and Wales. A summary of evidence relating to the impact of mindfulness on people in prison and on probation has been published and can be found at the following link; <a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mindfulness-in-prison-and-probation" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mindfulness-in-prison-and-probation</a> In addition to this, HMPPS Wales commissioned 2 studies in 2016 evaluating the impact of a mindfulness intervention at HMP Parc, Wales and within the National Probation Service Wales. Both staff and offenders took part in these studies. The research was led by Swansea University and the full reports, alongside a report from findings in the community, will be published later this year.</p></td></tr></tbody></table><p>Our work on mindfulness is just part of our efforts to reduce recidivism and improve the prison estate. Over the past 3 years, we have invested £100m to provide additional Prison Officers to improve frontline safety, security and rehabilitation.</p>

star this property answer text <p>There is a marked and significant difference in the alcohol-related mortality rates between the most and least deprived local authorities in England. This inequality gap has persisted over the previous seven years.</p><p>As an example of this inequality, Public Health England observed a mortality rate of 84.6 (per 100,000) in Blackpool (the most deprived local authority in England) in 2017, compared to a mortality rate of 37.6 (per 100,000) in Hart (the least deprived local authority in England) for the same period.</p><p>For the local authorities in both groups, there has been no statistically significant change over the previous seven years, maintaining the inequality gap. star this property answer text <p>Public Health England’s evidence review ‘The Public Health Burden of Alcohol and the Effectiveness and Cost-Effectiveness of Alcohol Control Policies’ highlighted that in the English population, rates of alcohol-specific and related mortality increase as levels of deprivation increase and alcohol-related liver disease is strongly related to the socioeconomic gradient.</p><p> </p><p>The NHS Long Term Plan signalled our support for improving treatment for patients in deprived areas with expert Alcohol Care Teams working in the 25% worst affected parts of the country supporting patients and their families who have issues with alcohol misuse. It is estimated that these new measures could prevent 50,000 admissions and almost 250,000 bed days over the next five years. The Government will continue to be mindful of social inequalities whilst developing policies to tackle alcohol harms.</p><p> </p> more like this
