In deciding whether to approve such a sale, the Secretary of State would consider the arrangements in place for securing the same or improved parent company guarantees and performance bond arrangements as currently exist. This consideration would include the financial standing of the new owning group and other elements of their capacity to honour existing commitments.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Omitting scheduled station stops (‘skip-stopping’) is used in exceptional circumstances where there is disruption to restore the service to schedule for the peaks as quickly as possible.</p><p> </p><p>We expect the operator to make the correct operational decisions which balance the needs of passengers who are inconvenienced by taking stops out of service against the wider advantage to passengers of getting services back on schedule as soon as possible. Operators are expected to communicate this to passengers in good time where possible, and to provide affected passengers with advice on the alternative options to complete their journey.</p><p> </p><p>Officials meet regularly with GTR to discuss performance and the operator has confirmed that it tries to protect stations like Arlesey where there are no alternative modes of transport. Where trains do miss these stations GTR has a procedure to try and ensure that the next fast service does call there.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Network Rail have advised the Department about the extent and causes of the landslip on the Bexley Heath railway line which took place on Monday 11 February. Network Rail have reinstated services along this line and are also carrying out geotechnical surveys to understand why the landslip occurred. To help prevent further landslips in this area, Network Rail have installed remote sensors and cameras which send regular information (including pictures and videos) about the condition of the cutting. Network Rail plan to carry out more intensive remediation work at this site in Control Period 6 (from 2019/20).</p><p> </p> more like this

The British Transport Police Fund Annual Report and Accounts, which is published by the BTPA, includes details about the Force’s operational performance. In addition, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire &amp; Rescue Services (HMICFRS) independently assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of police forces including the BTP. HMICFRS published a report in 2018 about the effectiveness of the BTP which emphasised its effectiveness in policing the railway environment, concluding that it compares favourably with the best performing Home Office forces at keeping people safe and reducing crime. Crossrail Limited has committed to delivering the full Elizabeth line services, including those to Burnham, as quickly as possible once the central tunnels have been completed, to provide a service that will carry up to 200 million passengers a year.</p><p> </p><p>Elizabeth line services will call at the existing station at Burnham which is currently, and will continue to be, served by Great Western Railway services.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>At this crucial stage of the Crossrail project, it is essential that Government remains focused on the full delivery of the current agreed scheme as its priority.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The promoters of the Crossrail to Ebbsfleet scheme have recently submitted a Strategic Outline Business Case to Government which is being considered. Any extension to the Elizabeth line would require a strong business case with a detailed evidence base that demonstrates the scheme would be both technically feasible and offer value for money, and also include the identification of funding.</p> more like this
