star this property answer text <p>The Cross-Government Fraud Landscape: Annual Report 2022, published on 21 March 2023 does not mention Department for Business and Trade.</p><p>The Fraud Landscape Report figures were reported to the Public Sector Fraud Authority (formerly the Counter Fraud Centre of Expertise) as part of established reporting cycles.</p><p>The government defines error as losses arising from unintentional events, processing errors and official government errors - such losses are judged as without fraudulent intent.</p><p>Since 2014, Fraud Landscape Reports show an increase in both detected fraud and error across government. This is in line with the government's explicit objective to find more fraud in the system. star this property answer text <p>We continue to work with industry via the Automotive Transformation Fund to support the creation of an internationally competitive electric vehicle supply chain in the UK, including gigafactories. With Government support, completion of AESC’s second Sunderland gigafactory and Tata-Agratas' £4bn gigafactory announcement will increase the UK’s committed battery capacity to over half of estimated 2030 demand.</p><p>We are also investing record sums in battery R&amp;D through the Faraday Battery Challenge, to establish the UK as a battery science superpower, with £610m committed since 2017.</p><p>In November 2023, the Advanced Manufacturing Plan announced over £2bn of capital and R&amp;D funding over five years to 2030, unlocking investment in zero emission vehicles, batteries and the wider supply chain. Alongside the AMP, we published a UK Battery Strategy, which outlined the Government’s vision for the UK to achieve a globally competitive battery supply chain by 2030 that supports economic prosperity and the net zero transition.</p>

star this property answer text <p>In making decisions on whether to grant a licence to permit something otherwise prohibited by sanctions legislation &amp; regulations, the Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU), comprised of subject matter experts and officials in the Department for Business and Trade, the Foreign, Commonwealth &amp; Development Office and the Ministry of Defence, acts on behalf of the Secretary of State. ECJU is obligated to consider applications on a case-by-case basis, determining whether granting a licence would be consistent with the stated purposes of the sanctions regime, licensing grounds, and United Nations or international law obligations. When assessing applications ECJU also consults and considers views from a range of other government departments.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The government has a strong track record of backing the sector and in November published our Advanced Manufacturing Plan (AMP) which aims to make the UK the best place in the world to start, scale up and invest in manufacturing.</p><p>Our plan, which builds on our extensive existing support, is underpinned by a £4.5bn commitment for strategic manufacturing sectors to 2030, a further £16 million to expand SME digital adoption through Made Smarter, provides tax relief and includes measures aimed at improving our business environment including grid connection, supply chain resilience and the UKs first Battery Strategy.</p><p>Made Smarter equips businesses with funding and tailored advise from specialists on the successful adoption of applications such as machine learning, data/systems integration and robotics to help drive efficiency, increase automation and raise productivity.</p> more like this
