	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/02/2019 answer text <p>The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) does not maintain a central record of Crown Court trials which resulted in a non-conviction outcome due to a prosecution failure to disclose evidence to the defence. This information could only be obtained by examining CPS case files, which would incur disproportionate cost.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the work under the National Disclosure Improvement Plan, the CPS has introduced new data collection measures designed to monitor disclosure performance. These measures include all prosecutors now being required to confirm at the conclusion of every case that has been stopped after charge whether disclosure had a primary or contributory impact on the outcome. This will allow us to capture more data than ever before on cases in which disclosure does not ultimately cause the case to end but where it was a secondary factor, and will enable performance to be examined by police and prosecutors at local, regional and national level and to drive further improvements. There is clearly the potential for electoral fraud in the systems we have and that undermines confidence and promotes perceptions of vulnerability.</p><p>The volunteer local authorities who will pilot voter identification at the local elections in May 2018 chose the forms of photographic and non photographic identification that they believe best suit the needs of their electors. Those local authorities have worked collaboratively with Cabinet Office to design pilots that will support the evaluation of a range of identification options. Information regarding the number of people with photo identification in the piloting local authority areas is not held by the Government.</p><p>No-one will need to purchase identification documents to be able to vote and the identification requirements will not be limited to a passport or driving licence. Voters will be able to use a wide variety of ID, from marriage certificates and passports to bus passes and bank cards, depending on where they live. If voters do not have the required ID local authorities are providing alternative or replacement methods, free of charge, to ensure that no one is disenfranchised. Data published by ONS shows that the number of electors on these registers was 44,722,004. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/06/2018 answer text <p>The British public deserves to have confidence in our democracy and the Government is committed to making sure that our electoral system is fit for the future.</p><p> </p><p>Voter ID was successfully tested at the local elections on 3 May by five local authorities: Bromley, Gosport, Swindon, Watford and Woking. Proxy voters in Peterborough were also required to show ID before they could vote. The overwhelming majority of people cast their vote without a problem.</p><p> </p><p>Local authorities were responsible for the delivery of any adverts, literature or paid content relating to the pilots in their respective areas. The additional costs of the voter ID pilots have yet to be collated. Funding for the additional cost of piloting voter ID will be provided by the Cabinet Office. Vulnerabilities cannot be allowed to undermine the integrity of our democracy.</p><p> </p><p>The Electoral Commission collates and publishes information on allegations of electoral fraud at elections each year. Reports for 2014 - 2017 polls are available on the Electoral Commission website and a report covering polls held in 2018 will be published in due course.</p><p> </p><p>The success of the voter ID pilots proves that this is a reasonable and proportionate measure and voters were fully aware of the changes on polling day.
