	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/11/2017 answer text <p><ins class="ministerial">During 2016, there were 26 instances of additional days awarded as a punishment following an adjudication at HM Prison Bedford, totalling 411 additional days.</ins><del class="ministerial">The number of additional days awarded to prisoners at HM Prison Bedford as a result of adjudications in 2016 was 26.</del></p><p> </p><p>Discipline procedures are central to the maintenance of a safe custodial environment. They are provided for by the Prison and Young Offender Institution Rules, which require adjudications to be conducted lawfully, fairly and justly. Independent Adjudicators are District Judges or Deputy District Judges who attend prisons and young offender institutions when necessary to hear those adjudication cases which are deemed to be sufficiently serious. Such cases may merit a punishment of additional days to a prisoner’s time spent in custody if the prisoner or young person is found guilty. Only Independent Adjudicators can make an award of additional days as a punishment. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/03/2018 answer text <p>Prison officers do a challenging and vital job to help protect the public and we are committed to making sure we have enough staff to deliver safe regimes in our prisons.</p><p> </p><p>Detached duty is one of the sensible and proportionate measures we take to cover resourcing pressures and ensure we run safe and decent regimes in prisons as well as being able to respond appropriately to any operational issues that arise.</p><p> </p><p>In 2016 the former Secretary of State announced HMPPS would be recruiting an additional 2,500 prison officers by December 2018. Good progress is being made to hit this target, with 1,970 additional officers recruited by 31<sup>st</sup> December 2017. All programmes are subject to regular assessments of performance. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/11/2017 answer text <p>Through the Department for International Development, the UK is the largest contributor to the Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SHF), providing £16.5 million in 2017. The SHF provides lifesaving food, health, water, and other assistance to internally displaced people and vulnerable communities in Sudan, including Government controlled areas of the Nuba mountains region in South Kordofan.</p><p>The UK Government has welcomed the Government of Sudan’s acceptance of the US proposal to provide humanitarian aid to the Two Areas (South Kordofan and Blue Nile). The UK supports the eradication of polio globally through the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), which has reduced polio cases by more than 99% since its launch in 1988. In preparation for the world to be certified polio-free and the corresponding ending of GPEI funding, GPEI is supporting countries to plan for this transition and ensure that investments made to eradicate polio contribute to future health goals. Given the fragile situation, South Sudan has been selected as one of 16 countries who are receiving additional in-country technical assistance for transition planning and the UK-led Health Pooled Fund, South Sudan’s largest health programme, is improving access to healthcare including routine immunisations for children. In 2017, we are providing £100 million in humanitarian assistance to northern Nigeria and over £14 million to other regions bordering Lake Chad, which will for example provide food assistance to more than 1.5 million people and reach 120,000 children with life-saving treatment for severe acute malnutrition. UK bilateral aid is already supporting 25,800 children with lifesaving assistance. We recently announced the new allocation of £175 million for humanitarian support over the next five years (2017-2022) for DRC.
