	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/01/2018 answer text <p>The Home Office has commenced a review of the regulation of air weapons in England and Wales, and we have asked for the views of interested parties on this. We have also asked that anybody who wishes to share their views on this issue with us do so by 6 February 2018.</p><p>The review will take account of the arrangements in Scotland and Northern Ireland where air weapons are subject to a licensing regime. We will therefore be seeking the views of both Police Scotland and the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The consultation specifically sought views on the outcomes of that review, including strengthening legislation in relation to young persons, and the safe and secure storage of air weapons, with the aim of ensuring their safe and responsible use. The proposals in the consultation focused on improving air weapons safety, particularly in relation to children. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/04/2021 answer text <p>We published the outcome of our earlier air weapons review along with proposals for new controls in England and Wales, as part of the firearms safety consultation which ran from 24 November 2020 to 16 February 2021. We received over 12,000 responses to the consultation and we will consider these carefully before publishing the Government response.</p><p> </p><p>There are existing controls on both air weapons and crossbows. Retailers are banned from selling crossbows to persons under 18 and legislation is in place to deal with those who use crossbows as a weapon. We keep the legislation on bladed articles and offensive weapons, including crossbows, under review.</p><p> </p><p>It is already an offence to sell or let on hire air weapons or their ammunition to those under 18 years of age, or for a person under the age of 18 years to purchase or hire an air weapon or ammunition.
