I received a positive response from the parties. The introduction of increased transparency of donations to Northern Ireland parties was also a Conservative Manifesto commitment at the recent Parliamentary election. The payment of a ransom to criminals is likely to encourage further criminal activity and does not guarantee a successful outcome.</p><p>The legal decision of whether or not to pay the ransom is ultimately a matter for the individuals or organisations concerned. We encourage victims of ransom demands to contact the authorities for support. Of these, 3,471 (34%) have been replied to in over 20 days.</p><p>Over the last six months the Department has replied to 21,204 letters from hon. Members. Of these 7,179 (34%) have been replied to in over 20 days.</p><p>Performance has been impacted by a very significant increase in the volume of correspondence received, alongside the need for Ministers and officials to instigate a remote process for drafting and signing correspondence during the period of COVID-19 restrictions. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/10/2020 answer text <p>The Government is aware that fraudsters are exploiting the pandemic to commit opportunistic crimes such as fraud. Along with partners in law enforcement, the public sector and the private and third sectors, we have been implementing measures to ensure the public has the protection and advice needed to shield themselves from these crimes.</p><p>This has included working alongside the National Cyber Security Centre to establish a new Suspicious Email Reporting Service. This service allows the public to report potential scams safely and effectively. To date, this has already led to over 13,000 scams being thwarted and taken down. Members of the public can forward suspicious emails to this address: <a href="mailto:report@phishing.gov.uk" target="_blank">report@phishing.gov.uk</a></p><p>However, law enforcement cannot do this alone. In addtion, the public should be well-informed on the steps they can take to guard against becoming the victim of crime. That is why we have launched a gov.uk page that contains easy-to-follow steps for people to spot potential frauds and the steps they can take to avoid them. It also signposts advice and support to those who may unfortunately have fallen victim. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/11/2017 answer text <p>Earlier this year, in recognition of the unique circumstances in Northern Ireland, the UK Government made clear that it was prepared to make available additional financial support following the confidence and supply agreement between the Conservative Party and the Democratic Unionist Party.</p><p> </p><p>That agreement made clear our desire to see the money decided upon and spent by a restored Executive for the benefit of all in Northern Ireland. In the meantime, though, we acknowledge that Northern Ireland’s unique circumstances cannot simply be ignored, especially given the pressures that we have seen in the continued absence of an Executive.</p><p> </p><p>That is why I announced during the Second Reading of the Northern Ireland Budget Bill on 13 November our commitment to make available £50m from the Confidence and Supply Agreement for addressing immediate health and education pressures in the 2017/18 financial year.
