star this property answer text <p>The family reunion policy allows those granted asylum or humanitarian protection to apply for their partner and children under the age of 18 to join them in the UK, provided they formed part of the family unit before the person fled their country. Other family members may also be allowed under the policy if there are exceptional or compassionate factors.</p><p>The immigration status of those granted protection and their family members brought to the UK under the policy allows them to study, take employment and apply for tax credits and other benefits.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We are concerned by the findings of the UN Commission of Inquiry on human rights in Eritrea, in particular reports of arbitrary detention, and shortcomings in the rule of law and respect for fundamental freedoms. We have made clear to the Government of Eritrea that it must honour its international obligations and that improved respect for human rights is required to help stem the flow of irregular migration. Through the Khartoum Process and the forthcoming Valletta Summit we will continue to engage Eritrea to that end.</p> more like this
