	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/11/2015 answer text <p>People with disabilities are entitled to an extra bedroom for non-resident overnight carers and disabled children who are unable to share with another child.</p><br /><p>Since 2013, we have provided local authorities with £470 million in Discretionary Housing Payments funding. This has enabled local authorities to give additional support to claimants where appropriate. However, not all claimants in this category will be affected by the announced policy as it will only apply from April 2018, where a new tenancy is taken out or a tenancy is renewed after April 2016.</p><br /><p>Tenants who take on a new tenancy or renew a tenancy will have the opportunity to consider whether they can afford to take on the property before committing to it.
