star this property answer text <p /> <p>Since the landmark £20 million Post Office Community Fund started accepting applications in June 2014 more than 340 Community post offices have applied for funding. More than 250 of these proposals have been approved to date and of these more than 85 have been completed, bringing significant benefits to communities, customers and subpostmasters across the UK. The fund remains open for applications and the Government encourages eligible branches to apply for investment.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Post Office is the largest provider of counter-based Government services in the UK. In 2013 it won a cross-Government framework contract which allows all Government Departments and their Executive Agencies to contract with the Post Office easily and cheaply. Key contracts with the DVLA and the Passport Office have been moved onto this new framework, as has the Post Office Card Account contract which has been extended to at least 2021.</p><br /><p>The Post Office is well-placed to bid for and win important contracts, with its extensive geographic reach and key role in the heart of communities. Government cannot simply award contracts to the Post Office; services must be procured competitively to ensure value for taxpayers’ money.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The arrangements in place for the Crown Transformation Programme were specific to this significant programme which encompassed the entire Crown network and which was a directly government funded investment programme. How Post Office handles business as usual changes to its branch estate is an operational matter for it. Post Office has a Code of Practice for changes to the network (such as relocations of branches) and this includes a role for Citizen’s Advice.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>There are over 11,600 post office branches in the UK, the largest retail network in the country.</p><p> </p><p>Between 2010 and 2018, Government will have invested nearly £2 billion to modernise and sustain the Post Office. This has led to the most stable network for decades, but importantly our transformation of the network has delivered an extra 200,000 opening hours a week across the country and more than 4,100 branches are open on Sundays.</p><p> </p><p>On 8 November the Government launched a public consultation on the network to understand what customers and small businesses expect from branches, and this will inform the government’s next state aid application for funding the Post Office.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this
