Our programmes aim to increase the ability of poor people to cope with the impacts of climate-related shocks, including droughts, floods and storms, and to build their resilience to future changes in climate. The International Climate Fund (ICF) is the UK Government’s vehicle for delivering climate finance assistance and other forms of support, such as technical assistance. Although DFID does not have a bilateral aid programme in Burundi, DFID is providing £9.25 million to support relief efforts for refugees fleeing to Tanzania, and £3.9m for refugees in Rwanda. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/09/2015 answer text <p>The table below shows the UK contributions to the World Bank (specifically to IBRD, the non-concessional lending arm of the World Bank) in paid in capital and callable capital in each of the last five years.</p><p> </p><p>Please note that the UK did not pay in additional capital to IBRD or contribute additional callable capital in 2010. Additional contributions to multilateral development bank’s capital are infrequent and only happen through General or Selective Capital Increases (known as GCIs and SCIs). The most recent of these for IBRD became effective in 2011.</p><p> </p><p>The paid in amount is fixed in US dollar terms. As such the Sterling amount varies slightly each year depending on the exchange rate. The Secretary of State for International Development makes the most of opportunities to raise awareness of polio eradication efforts and, wherever appropriate, discusses polio with her international counterparts. For example, last year the Secretary of State for International Development made a key note speech at Rotary International with representatives from India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Indonesia, along with key polio campaigners and global health bodies.</p><p> </p><p>The UK continues to be a strong supporter of global polio eradication efforts. In 2013, the UK committed £300 million over six years to polio eradication, which will help vaccinate up to 360 million children. The UK actively participates in the global Polio Oversight Board, helping to ensure a strong focus on results and achieving eradication. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/07/2015 answer text <p>The UK remains extremely concerned about the humanitarian situation in Eastern Sudan. The United Nations’ ‘Sudan Humanitarian Response Plan 2015’ estimates that 328,000 people are in need of humanitarian assistance in three states of East Sudan (Red Sea, Kassala and Gedaref), out of a total of 5.4 million in need across the country. The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) is supporting some 92,000 long-term refugees in the east. DFID is providing a further £38 million over the next two years for additional humanitarian assistance to Sudan, including Darfur.</p><p> </p><p>Delays and restrictions imposed by the Government of Sudan in the issuance of travel permits has limited our ability to conduct our own recent assessment but we continue to work closely with NGOs and International Agencies to better understand the situation.
