Friend Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a £1.25 billion coronavirus package to protect firms driving innovation in the UK. This included £750 million of targeted support for the most R&amp;D intensive small and medium size firms which will be available through Innovate UK’s grants and loan scheme.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has since confirmed that up to £500 million of this is for existing customers including £20<ins class="ministerial">0</ins> million of accelerated payments and up to £30<ins class="ministerial">0</ins> million for continuity grants and loans. £20 million of the remainder has been used to double the number of businesses receiving funding through the Innovate UK call for business led innovation in response to the crisis which was open to new customers. Over 800 companies have been successful in this competition. Innovate UK has also allocated up to £39 million to increase the business advisory support services available new and existing high-growth potential SMEs.</p><p> </p><p>The final part of this package was announced on the 27<sup>th</sup> June. Member to the answer I gave him on 24 June 2021 to Question <a href="https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2021-06-18/18565" target="_blank">18565</a>. </del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Merchant Navy Ratings Pension Fund (MNRPF) is a multi-employer pension scheme and it is therefore not possible for any single participating (current or past) employer to estimate it’s share of any liabilities. This is a closed pension scheme and we do not know for certain if there are either active or deferred members of MNRPF who were previously employees of UK Research Innovation (UKRI) (or its predecessor organisations - NERC/BAS/NOC). However, it is possible, as not all of the former employees who were members of this pension scheme will have reached the scheme retirement age yet. These agreements help to avoid placing homes and businesses in unnecessary blight, protect commercially sensitive information of both parties and the personal information of those potentially affected by any proposed changes to the scheme. HS2 Ltd’s Register shows <del class="ministerial">342</del> <ins class="ministerial">339 </ins>such agreements have been put in place. I have asked the Chief Executive, Sir Gerry Berragan, to write to the hon. The Secretary General is in contact with the Government of Brunei and is working through Commonwealth channels.</p><p>​The UK encourages all Commonwealth partners to protect and promote the values in the Commonwealth Charter, including its opposition to all forms of discrimination. We have made clear that nobody should face persecution or discrimination because of who they are or whom they love.</p><p>Brunei is one of several Commonwealth countries that imposes corporal and capital punishments. It has now introduced new potential penalties under the Sharia Penal Code.</p><p>We have raised our concerns with the Government of Brunei. The CAP Code incorporates all relevant legislation, including consumer protection legislation, and sets standards for accuracy and honesty to which advertisers must adhere. This system operates independently of government.</p><p> </p><p>The remit of the ASA extends to the online promotion of products by celebrities, if the celebrity has been paid (including payment in kind) by an advertiser, and the advertiser exerts some form of editorial control over the resulting content. To guarantee compliance with the CAP Code in such cases, advertisers must ensure that endorsements are genuine, claims are accurate and advertising is clearly identified as such. The products themselves must also adhere to relevant regulation and standards.</p><p> </p><p>If the advertiser does not exert some form of editorial control over the resulting content, consumer protection legislation still applies and is enforced instead by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The CMA works closely with the ASA in this area, and expects such content to clearly identify any commercial relationship and to have regard to the CAP Code.</p><p> </p><p>The Competition and Markets Authority recently investigated social media endorsements by influencers / celebrities to ensure that they were being clear to their followers, resulting in influencers / celebrities changing their practices. Rugby League is a fantastic example of how sport and physical activity can play a leading role in engaging people from every background.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s <em>Sporting Future</em> strategy is explicit <del class="ministerial">that</del> that everyone, regardless of background, sex, age or level of ability should be able to engage in sport and physical activity as participants, spectators and in the workplace, and that sport and physical activity should be valued for the much broader positive impact it can have across a range of physical, social and economic outcomes. The department plays no direct role in the provision of student residential accommodation.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> <ins class="ministerial">The department assesses student accommodation rent levels through the Student Income and Expenditure Surveys that have been undertaken at regular intervals since the mid-1980s.
