star this property answer text <p>The United Kingdom continues to closely monitor events in Zimbabwe, including the recent changes within the ruling party. We remain committed to supporting the aspirations of the Zimbabwean people for a more democratic, stable and prosperous future.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In 2013/14 we provided £106 million in aid to Zimbabwe. This aid focused on helping the country’s poorest people, including providing healthcare, water, sanitation, and access to markets needed for people to earn enough money to meet their basic needs.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>No UK aid goes directly through GoZ systems. UK aid is instead channelled through multilateral institutions such as United Nations Agencies, most notably the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), as well as international Non-Governmental Organisations and the private sector.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The most up to date figures of DFID spend can be found in DFID’s Annual Report.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK is leading the international response to Ebola in Sierra Leone, and we are working closely with a wide range of UK and International NGOs to contain and combat the outbreak. Given the shifting nature of the epidemic and the evolving international response, payments to NGOs are under constant review.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>To date, our support to UK NGOs includes disbursement of £13.5million to the British Red Cross; £5million to Save the Children; £3.6 million to World Vision; £2.1million to UK Med, £50,000 to Riders for Health and £52,000 to Map Action.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We will make further disbursements to UK NGOs as needed throughout the Ebola crisis.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK is the first country to announce its contribution of $50million to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Catastrophe Containment and Relief (CCR) trust to relieve the burden of debt caused by the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The CCR trust is expected to provide grants-for-debt relief of $100million for the three countries most affected by the ongoing Ebola epidemic: Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. These countries will be able to access funds to cover upcoming repayments to the IMF for two years, allowing them to redirect those resources to fighting the outbreak, restoring services and reinvigorating the economy.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In addition, the IMF have provided further funding through their existing programmes in the region bringing their total financial contribution to the Ebola outbreak to date to $349million.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK is leading the international response to Ebola in Sierra Leone and has committed £230 million to help fight the disease.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The European Council, the European Commission and its member states pledged a total of €1 billion to the Ebola Response. According to the European Commission, as of 28 October the EU and its Member States had pledged €911 million. This includes €100 million from France, €107 million from Germany, €53 million from Sweden and €46.2 million from Italy. Adding to the Commission’s further pledge of €280 million on 6 November for Ebola research, half-funded by the private sector, this takes the current total to well over €1 billion.</p><p> </p> more like this
