star this property answer text <p>There is no plan to review the number of prosecutions of UK citizens in the UK for International Criminal Court category crimes committed overseas in recent years. Prosecution decisions are taken independently of Government. In every case bought by the Crown Prosecution Service, prosecutors are required by the Code for Crown Prosecutors to select charges which: reflect the seriousness and extent of the offending supported by the evidence; give the court adequate powers to sentence and impose appropriate post-conviction orders; and enable the case to be presented in a clear and simple way.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Crown Prosecution Service has to date not prosecuted any individual on the basis of universal jurisdiction for offences contrary to the International Criminal Court Act 2001 and the Coroner’s and Justice Act 2009.</p><p>There have been a small number of prosecutions for international crimes by the CPS, including those of Anthony Sawonuik who was convicted of war crimes from World War II and Faryadi Sarwar Zardad who was convicted of torture and hostage taking as a result of offences committed in Afghanistan.</p><p> </p> more like this
