star this property answer text <p>The Government has not assessed the effects of recent legislative and regulatory changes on contractual relationships between collecting societies. This is because the policy objective of the regulations is to improve collecting societies’ conduct, rather than to regulate their contractual relationships. However, the impact of the regulations on the conduct of collecting societies will be assessed as part of the usual post-legislative process, which is scheduled for late 2015/ early 2016.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There are no plans for the Government to issue guidance where there is a contractual dispute: Government does not usually interfere in contractual matters between private commercial entities such as collecting societies.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p> </p><p>Ofcom is committed to carrying out a full review on end-to-end competition next year. It has also made clear that it would carry out an earlier review if market developments dictated the need to do so.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Ofcom has set out its approach towards carrying out a full assessment of end-to-end competition in its Guidance published in March 2013 (“Final Guidance on Ofcom’s approach to assessing the impact on the universal service”).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p><br></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Ofcom has in place a continuous monitoring regime and access to key confidential data from Royal Mail and other postal operators which would enable it to anticipate any potential threat to the universal service. They are keeping market developments under close monthly review and if this monitoring identified cause for concern Ofcom has said that they would be able to carry out a review very quickly.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Government has been supporting Lord Davies’ voluntary business-led strategy for the advancement of all women, irrespective of ethnicity or disability. These measures are working. Women now account for 22.8% of board members in FTSE100 companies, up from 12.5% in February 2011.And there are no all-male boards in the FTSE 100 down from 21 in 2011.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We do not collect statistics for, and FTSE 100 companies do not have to report on, the number of disabled or ethnic minorities on their boards.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In September 2014 The Financial Reporting Council published an updated UK Corporate Governance Code, including changes to the preface highlighting the importance of diversity on the board. This includes gender, race and a wide range of other factors including difference of approach and experience.</p><p> </p><p>On 30 September the Secretary fo Business Innovation and Skills also announced his support for a business led initiative to support wider ethnic diversity on boards.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government works closely with the European Union Observatory on the Infringement of Intellectual Property Rights to share best practice with stakeholders – including industry bodies and European and international enforcement bodies – on the approach to tackling intellectual property (IP) enforcement.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government also plays an active role in Europol and Interpol intellectual property enforcement action and undertakes direct bilateral action where operationally necessary.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Through our network of overseas IP attachés the Government continues to build strong relations with government departments, industry bodies and enforcement agencies. For example, in September the Chinese Government will host the second UK-China IP Symposium which I shall be attending. The Symposium, which will have a clear enforcement component, is an opportunity for UK and Chinese companies to interact with senior policymakers from both countries on a range of intellectual property topics. The UK Government will be coordinating a range of activities in China that week, engaging with the Supreme People’s Court and the Ministry of Public Security.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p> </p><p>The Government provided £2.56m of seed funding to establish the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit in 2013. This funding was provided on the understanding that from 2015, industry stakeholders would be encouraged to make future investments in the unit, as a result of its demonstrated success in reducing online Intellectual Property (IP) crime.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The unit has been well received by industry and early indications suggest that it will reduce online IP crime .</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government is currently discussing options to ensure the future sustainability of the Unit with industry.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this
