star this property answer text <p /> <p /> <p>The exercise of the Royal Prerogative of Mercy may currently take one of three forms:</p><p> </p><p>i) The grant of a Free Pardon;</p><p>ii) The grant of a conditional Pardon;</p><p>iii) Remission of all or part of a penalty</p><p> </p><p>By Constitutional convention, the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice (in succession to the Home Secretary) is responsible, in England and Wales (and the Channel Islands), for recommending to Her Majesty the exercise of the prerogative of mercy to grant a Royal Pardon. In Northern Ireland the responsibility lies with the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland for reserved matters and the Justice Minister for Northern Ireland for devolved matters. In Scotland it is devolved to the First Minister. The Secretary of State for Defence also has the responsibility in relation to members of the armed forces.</p><p> </p><p>Each department or administration is responsible for maintaining their records. I am not aware of any problems with retrieving such records for this period relating to royal pardons granted on the recommendation of the Secretary of State for Justice.</p>

The Northern Ireland and Great Britain systems have traditionally operated in tandem in what is effectively a United Kingdom wide system.</p><p> </p><p>Should Northern Ireland decide not to mirror the welfare reform measures in Great Britain, it would be a matter for the Northern Ireland Executive to determine and fund the IT systems needed as a result of their decision.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p /> <p>Uganda is a signatory to the London Scheme for Extradition within the Commonwealth and is categorised as a Category 2 country for the purposes of the Extradition Act 2003. It is required to provide prima facie evidence in support of any extradition request.The Category 2 designation does not in itself amount to a simplified extradition procedure. When deciding an extradition case the court must consider any relevant Human Rights concerns. If the court believes a person’s rights under the European Convention on Human Rights would be breached, they must discharge the request.</p><p /> more like this

star this property answer text <p> </p><p>Following the transfer of responsibility for Hillsborough Castle to Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) on 1 April 2014, a dedicated area of accommodation has been retained for occupancy by the Northern Ireland Office (NIO). HRP provides the NIO with a number of services, including the continued readiness of this area for use as a residence by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and by the Minister of State for Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>The changes to the NIO's accommodation will not impact on the ability of the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to fulfil her public duties.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p> </p><p>If possible the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland intends to publish the report in its entirety, as she receives it from Lady Justice Hallett.</p><p>Lady Justice Hallett may make minor and necessary deletions or redactions of her own (for example where revealing certain details might impact on future criminal proceedings) prior to releasing the report to the Secretary of State.</p><p>Were the Secretary of State to reach a view, following advice from legal advisers or officials, that a further redaction to the text were legally necessary, she would consult Lady Justice Hallett.</p><p>In the unlikely event that a redaction by the Secretary of State was deemed to be necessary, this would be made clear on the face of the report.</p><p> </p> more like this

We must not prejudge the review’s findings, the purpose of which is to inform Government policy towards the Muslim Brotherhood. Its scope includes linked and affiliated organisations and individuals and will encompass any alleged links the Muslim Brotherhood has with terrorism and extremism. The review will take account of evidence relating to allegations of such links.
