star this property answer text <p>We accepted the Independent Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Review’s recommendation to undertake a selective retrospective audit of a defined cohort of women who have undergone mesh procedures. NHS Digital has undertaken an audit of all pelvic floor surgery completed <ins class="ministerial">between 2006 and 2011</ins><del class="ministerial">in 2010</del> to generate a historical baseline of outcomes by procedure type and to support further research and analysis. <ins class="ministerial">This audit was conducted using initial procedures and re-operations/ follow up procedures recorded within Hospital Episode Statistics data. While the</ins><del class="ministerial">This audit was conducted using Hospital Episode Statistics data and other data using the identified National Health Service cohort of patients and the longitudinal record to observe outcomes where possible. star this property answer text <p>Under the Abortion Act 1967, a pregnancy may be lawfully terminated by a registered medical practitioner in approved premises, if two medical practitioners are of the opinion, formed in good faith, that the abortion is justified under one or more of grounds A to G. Ground E refers to cases where “there is substantial risk that if the child were born it would suffer from such physical or mental abnormalities as to be seriously handicapped”. There can be multiple reasons for an abortion for a fetal abnormality, therefore there can be more than one medical condition mentioned on a HSA4 form.</p><p>Selective abortions are abortions where the number of fetuses in the womb is reduced.</p><p>There were 55 mentions of medical conditions for selective abortions performed under ground E between January to June 2020, a breakdown of which is available in the attached table<em>.</em></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Data showing the time between booking an appointment with a general practice and the appointment taking place for practices in NHS Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group and South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) in the 12 months from January 2019 to December 2019 is presented in the attached table.</p><p>NHS Digital publishes ‘Appointments in General Practice’. This is an experimental data collection which is still being refined and improved. NHS Digital is unable to provide appointments in general practice data at the level requested. Rotherham Borough, South Yorkshire and Rother Valley do not align perfectly to a CCG; it has therefore provided data NHS Rotherham CCG and South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw STP.</p><p>It should be noted that the ‘time from booking to appointment’ refers only to the time elapsed between the successful booking of an appointment and the appointment taking place. The data does not take into consideration that many patients will be appropriately booking ahead as part of the continuity of care they receive for long-term conditions.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">While Structured Medication Reviews (SMRs) are not commissioned from pharmacies, from November 2021 to October 2022, 2,221,117 SMR appointments were booked in general practice.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">No specific assessment has been made. Staffing levels are determined locally and are informed by national guidance for safe staffing.</ins></p><p><del class="ministerial">SMRs optimise patient care in a number of ways, including by reducing medicine wastage. However, no specific assessment has been made of this impact, as it is among a number of benefits. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has assessed the evidence for interventions to optimise the use of medicines in developing its guideline ‘Medicines optimisation: the safe and effective use of medicines to enable the best possible outcomes’, which has informed NHS England’s commissioning policy.</del></p> more like this

People on a low income who do not qualify for an exemption from prescription charges can seek help under the NHS Low Income Scheme, which provides help with health costs on an income-related basis. For those who do not qualify for an exemption, prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) allow people to obtain as many prescriptions as they need for a set cost. A three-monthly PPC or an annual PPC will save people money if they need four or more items in three months or <ins class="ministerial">12</ins> <del class="ministerial">13</del> or more items in 12 months.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">We expect integrated care boards to commission fertility services according to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s (NICE) guidelines, ensuring equal access to fertility treatment in England. NICE’s fertility guidelines currently recommend that the National Health Service provides fertility preservation for patients being treated for cancer who wish to preserve their fertility. NICE is currently reviewing these guidelines and we expect that this review will be published in 2024.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> <p><ins class="ministerial">The Medicines and Pregnancy Registry uses National Health Service dispensing data from community pharmacies in England and NHS maternity services to identify female patients who have received anti-epileptic medication, including sodium valproate and those who have received a prescription in a month that they were pregnant. While this dispensing data accurately reflects the medicines received, it relates to patients in England and may not include patients prescribed sodium valproate in hospitals or private healthcare or those who do not present to NHS maternity services.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">All medicines may potentially cause side effects and some of these side effects could be classified as significant risks when used as prescribed, in specific patient populations or in certain circumstances such as during pregnancy. While registries can be helpful when investigating or monitoring specific aspects of prescribed medicines, the integration of records within existing healthcare systems may be more effective at monitoring patient outcomes.</ins></p></ins></p>
