We have the most ambitious 2030 emissions reduction target of any major economy.</p><p> </p><p>The UK over-achieved against the first, second and third carbon budgets. Taken together, the policies set out in last year’s Carbon Budget Delivery Plan keep us on track for Carbon Budgets 4, 5 and 6, our 2030 Nationally Determined Contribution, and ultimately for net zero by 2050.</p><p> </p><p>Renewables, which have increased from 7% in 2010 to nearly half of our electricity generation, will help ensure our energy security – providing homegrown energy, and reducing our exposure to volatile fossil fuel markets. Already FWF is shaping new investment in collective water action in over 60 UK food and drink retailers in water-scarce regions of Peru, Kenya and Morocco, reforming procurement, regulation and investment policy in Panama, Madagascar, Finland and the Netherlands, and strengthening the voice of vulnerable communities in Malawi. The Government continues to work closely with the Met Office to assess the science of sea-level rise as part of the Met Office Hadley Centre Climate Programme, including examining the implications of the latest IPCC's 6<sup>th</sup> assessment report (AR6). This includes the outcome of significant ice mass loss from Antarctica and Greenland.</p><p> </p><p>Our long-term policy statement sets out our ambition to create a nation more resilient to future flood and coastal erosion risk. This includes the Community Resilience Partnership Programme which will help empower local communities and grassroots women's groups in Asia and the Pacific. In 2022, the FCDO launched a new approach to addressing the climate, environment and biodiversity crisis in and through girls' education.
