unstar this property answer text <p>The Government is collecting data on all external wall systems on residential buildings 18 metres and above. This exercise covers private and social (both local authority and housing association) stock, hotels and student accommodation.</p><p>The Government requests that local authorities and housing associations complete the data collection by 31 March 2020. We have published a technical note (18 July) to aid local authorities and housing associations in identifying the details of external wall systems. We are aiming to provide financial support to local authorities in the form of New Burdens funding. We will publish appropriate summary information from the data collection in our monthly Building Safety Programme data release when ready.</p> more like this

The Government is collecting data on all external wall systems on residential buildings 18 metres and above, covering private and social (both local authority and housing association) stock, hotels and student accommodation. The data exercise is structured in such a way that additional questions could be added in the future if this would develop our data set to support this work. <br> <br> There remains a duty for those responsible for buildings to maintain safety of a premises (so far as the requirements are under their control) under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and the Housing Act.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Department published in April 2019 a Frequently asked Question on the Government website one of which answer the question “How do the Building (Amendment) Regulations 2018 affect buildings undergoing remediation?”</p><p>The requirement is that building work on such buildings must be carried out so that only materials which achieve European Classification A1 or A2-s1, d0 become part of an external wall or specified attachment (as defined in regulation 2) unless covered by one of the exemptions in the regulations.</p><p>This means that materials which are already part of the external wall, or are existing specified attachments, and are not becoming part of the wall are not covered by the ban (unless there is a change of use).
