	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/10/2019 answer text <p>The information requested is not readily available and to provide it would incur disproportionate cost.</p><p> </p><p>From 31<sup>st</sup> May 2019, new claimants to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) whose award would otherwise have had a review after they had reached State Pension age, have been receiving an ongoing award and will be subject to a light touch review at 10 years. From 9<sup>th</sup> July this year, we also began moving existing PIP claimants with a scheduled review after they have reached state pension age onto ongoing awards with a light touch review after 10 years. For these existing claimants, changes to their award duration are taking place prior to their scheduled award review. Under <a href="https://code.statisticsauthority.gov.uk/the-code/" target="_blank">the Code of Practice for Statistics</a>, statistics must be published so that they are equally available to all, not given to some people before others.</p><p> </p><p>The statistics cannot be provided in response to a parliamentary question because the information requested is not readily available and to provide it would incur disproportionate cost. For PQs, there is a requirement to produce information to the same quality standard as Official Statistics. To assess the completeness of recording and quality assure the figures requested to this standard would take in excess of the time permitted to respond to a PQ and therefore incurs disproportionate cost.</p><p> </p><p>In response to part (d) of question 10306, we always aim to make an award decision as quickly as possible and are treating as a priority advance claims, where a person’s previous fixed term award has ended. We are working with Assessment Providers to arrange assessment appointments as soon as possible. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/09/2021 answer text <p>We are committed to ensuring that people can access financial support through Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in a timely manner and reducing customer journey times for PIP claimants is a priority for the Department. We always aim to make an award decision as quickly as possible, taking into account the need to review all available evidence.</p><p> </p><p>The time it takes to clear a claim and the number of people awaiting a decision can vary reflecting factors including customer demand, operational resource and timescales for different parts of the process. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused distortion and work is ongoing to manage the recovery.</p><p> </p><p>The time it takes clear new PIP claims in July 2021 (most recent data available) are similar to levels a year ago.</p><p> </p><p>We are always looking at ways to improve the assessment process. While an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is not a legal requirement of the PSED, it is one of the ways a department can demonstrate consideration of, and compliance, with its duty.</p><p> </p><p>Prior to the introduction of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), an EIA, including against ethnicity, was completed which can be found here <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/disability-living-allowance-reform-equality-impact-assessment" target="_blank">Disability Living Allowance reform – equality impact assessment - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)</a>. EIAs are carried out in relation to significant proposals or changes to PIP, the most recent of which was in 2022.
