	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2023 answer text <p>The Government published its Third National Adaptation Programme (NAP3) (see attached) in July 2023. This marked a step-change in the Government’s approach to climate adaptation, putting in place an ambitious programme of decisive action for the next 5 years to address each of the 61 climate risks and opportunities in its Third Climate Change Risk Assessment.</p><p> </p><p>NAP3 builds on our work already underway to provide an improved and more resilient infrastructure, greener economy, and sustainable food production.  For example, we are responding to environmental threats to domestic food production through our Environmental Land Management farming schemes, protecting hundreds of thousands of homes with a record-breaking £5.2 billion investment in flood and coastal schemes, and safeguarding future water supplies by working with regulators to accelerate £2.2 billion of investment through our ambitious Plan for Water.</p><p> </p><p>The Government will continue to monitor its progress on adapting to climate change both internally through a new, senior officials Climate Resilience Board, and externally by the Climate Change Committee’s (CCC’s) reports to Parliament. The UK is the first major economy in the world to set a legally binding target to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/09/2019 answer text <p>The Government works closely with an extensive set of stakeholders to build resilience to climate change risks across the whole country, including with the Local Adaptation Advisory Panel (LAAP), the Local Government Association, the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport, and Core Cities. In particular we support the LAAP, the forum on climate change adaptation at a local level, which brings together central and local government and agencies to promote and deliver adaptation in the local government sector.</p><p> </p><p>In November last year we launched a new set of UK Climate Projections 2018 (UKCP18), commissioned from the Met Office. UKCP18 is the first major update to the UK’s national climate change projections for nearly ten years, and this time it includes global and regional scenarios. The Government will use UKCP18 to inform its adaptation and mitigation planning and decision making, and the projections will also help local authorities, businesses and communities to take action to improve resilience.</p><p> </p><p>This year we will be releasing a new addition to UKCP18 in the form of local projections on a similar resolution to that of operational weather forecast models (i.e. 2.2km).
