star this property answer text <p>Organisations with 250 or more employees are now required to publish specific gender pay gap data on an annual basis. We believe that this transparency is motivating employers to take action, but these regulations are new and we will be monitoring them closely.</p><p> </p><p>We continue to urge employers to go beyond the reporting requirements by publishing an action plan, setting out the steps they are taking to improve gender equality, just under half of employers did this in the first year. I intend to write to all public sector employers urging them to develop a plan, and will meet influential business leaders to press them to take action in their sectors.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>From April 2013, local authorities have been responsible for public health locally, including commissioning public health services for school aged children in their areas. In October 2015 responsibility for zero to five commissioning was also transferred to local authorities.</p><p>It is therefore for local authorities to assess the health needs of their populations and commission the appropriate health visiting and school nursing services and workforce, based around local needs.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) key performance indicators are set each year with the agreement of the Home Office. As the sponsoring department, the Home Office monitors timeliness performance throughout the year. star this property answer text <p>The Government concluded the last fundamental review of business rates in 2016. Respondents to the review agreed that property based taxes are easy to collect, difficult to avoid, relatively stable compared to other taxes, and that they have a clear link with local authority spending.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has taken repeated action to reduce the burden of business rates for all ratepayers. Reforms and reliefs announced since Budget 2016 will reduce rates by more than £13 billion over the next five years. This includes switching from RPI to CPI indexation, increasing the frequency of revaluations, increasing the threshold for the standard multiplier to £51,000, and doubling the threshold for Small Business Rate Relief from April 2017, which means 655,000 of the smallest businesses now pay no business rates at all.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Funding for children’s services is made available through the local government finance settlement. We are in the final year of a multi-year settlement deal and have made £46.4 billion available this year for local services including those for children’s services. The government has also made £410 million available to local authorities this year specifically for adult and children social care.</p><p>My department is working with the sector, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and with HM Treasury, as part of our preparation for the next Spending Review, to understand the level of funding local government needs to meet demand and deliver statutory duties.</p><p>The Department for Education are also working closely with MHCLG on the review of relative needs and resources to develop a robust, up-to-date approach to funding distribution for children's services at local government finance settlements.</p> more like this

We keep under review the adequacy of funding for children and young people with all SEND, including for services to help deaf children, in making allocations to local authorities and schools.</p><p> </p><p>Last December we announced additional high needs funding for those with more complex needs, amounting to £250 million, across last year and this year, bringing the total high needs funding to £6.3 billion in 2019-20. We understand that local authorities and schools are experiencing pressures on their budgets because of increasing costs and are looking carefully at how much funding will be needed in future years as we approach the next Spending Review.</p> more like this

For regions where life expectancy is lower than England, the tool shows the causes of death which are contributing to this gap.
