We are already delivering record increases in public sector R&amp;D investment — an extra £7bn committed by 2021/21 — with a target to reach 2.4% of GDP investment in R&amp;D across the whole economy by 2027.</p><p> </p><p>The government is supporting organisations that promote digital innovation. The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund is incentivising innovation, including in digital projects, by bringing together world-class UK research with business investment to develop new technologies. The Digital Catapult, an advanced digital technology innovation centre, receives funding to drive the early adoption of digital technologies to make UK businesses more competitive. It provides physical and digital facilities for experimentation and brings small companies, corporates, researchers and investors together through innovation programmes.</p><p> </p><p>We are also helping innovative companies to access funding to expand and develop new projects. This includes the £2.5 billion British Patient Capital programme, delivered through the British Business Bank, which will support innovative UK companies to access the long-term investment they need to grow and expand worldwide.</p><p> </p><p>The Industrial Strategy also supports the development of projects in specific sectors through Sector Deals: long term partnerships between industry and the government. We continue to encourage the Government of Bahrain to deliver on its international and domestic human rights commitments.</p><p>The UK has been providing a range of technical and practical assistance to the Government of Bahrain since 2012, in support of its reform programme. Any training provided by or on behalf of the British Government complies with our domestic and international human rights obligations.</p><p>We encourage those with concerns about treatment in detention to report them to the appropriate Bahraini human rights oversight body. We welcome the reinstatement of Bahrain citizenship to 643 people so far this year and will continue to monitor this issue. We encourage individuals experiencing issues with reinstatement of benefits and services to report them to the Bahrain National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR). We assess information that is publically released through official channels. The decision making process of the application of alternative sentencing is subject to meeting qualifying conditions and remains the responsibility of the Bahraini judicial system. We are closely monitoring the trials of Mr Rajab with officials from the Embassy regularly attending court hearings. We have raised the case as part of the UK's ongoing open dialogue with Bahrain at senior levels. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/08/2019 answer text <p>The UK Chief Medical Officers’ published guidelines in 2011 which recommended that children and young people aged 5-18 should do a minimum of 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity per day.</p><p> </p><p>It is up to schools to decide what opportunities to offer to pupils to be active, including through a diverse and challenging physical exercise (PE) curriculum that suits the needs of all their pupils. Under the Childhood Obesity Plan the government set an expectation that at least 30 minutes should be delivered in school every day through active break times, PE, extra-curricular clubs, active lessons, or other sport and physical activity events.</p><p> </p><p>The government restated this expectation in the School Sport and Activity Action Plan published earlier this month. A link to the Plan is attached here: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-sport-and-activity-action-plan" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-sport-and-activity-action-plan</a>.</p><p>Through the action set out in the plan, the government will support schools to offer high quality PE and activity opportunities and take steps to increase the opportunities outside of school. As part of the plan, the government has committed to raising awareness of the appropriate levels of physical activity for children and young people, to align with updated Chief Medical Officers’ guidance on physical activity which is due in September 2019.</p><p> </p><p>The department will shortly be issuing procurement guidelines on the purchase and installation of multi-use games areas (MUGAs) for schools. MUGAs provide an excellent opportunity to enhance sports facilities for all schools, particularly those with limited outside space. The Department for Transport is aware of a number of initiatives, both here in England and overseas, in which recycled plastic and other waste product materials are added as a binding mix to asphalt.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the Live Labs research programme, in conjunction with the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport (ADEPT) and private partners, the Department for Transport announced in January 2019 funding of £1.6 million to Cumbria County Council to extend a trial for the selection and testing of recycled plastic in surfacing and structural treatments on the local road network. This trial will assess the suitability and durability of the plastics additives from minor patching work and pothole repairs through to major resurfacing.</p><p> </p><p>Technological innovation in road maintenance processes can also improve efficiency and reduce waste by recycling existing road material.
