To go further and faster beyond a 2027 target would add considerable - and unnecessary - further costs and delays. And the shorter we make the timetable for removal, the greater the risk of actual disruption to mobile telecoms networks.</p><p>Not all operators use Huawei. For those operators that do use Huawei, individual pathways to comply with the 2027 deadline will be a commercial decision for the individual operators.</p><p>The forthcoming Telecommunications (Security) Bill will provide the powers to place this timetable on a clear legal footing. In the meantime Ministers and senior officials are working with affected operators to ensure long term compliance.</p><p><strong><p><p></strong></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government engages regularly with local authorities, and they have a critical role in the deployment of digital infrastructure. However, the equipment that operators use to deploy digital infrastructure is chosen based on their own commercial decisions and is not affiliated with any local authority. The process for complying with the Government’s decision on the use of Huawei 5G equipment will include commercial decisions that are for the mobile operators to make.</p><p>The Telecoms Security Bill, once introduced, will provide the government with the powers needed to compel mobile operators to limit or remove high risk vendors from their 5G networks, and will include compliance and enforcement arrangements.</p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Telecoms Supply Chain Review report (published in July 2019) set out estimates of Huawei’s market share in the UK focused on 4G and full fibre networks. The Review did not collect information that would allow us to estimate Huawei’s market share in 3G networks either now or in 2010.</p><p /> <p>Analysis from the Review assessed that there would likely be a significant increase in the use of Huawei equipment for 5G access networks overall compared to the use of its equipment in current (3G/4G) networks.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In January the Government set out the conclusions from the Telecoms Supply Chain Review in relation to high risk vendors including that they should be excluded from the sensitive core of the network and restricted to a cap of up to 35% in the access network, subject to an NCSC approved mitigation strategy.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>On 14 July, the Government set out further restrictions on the use of Huawei equipment in the UK’s 5G networks, by advising operators against procuring affected Huawei 5G equipment, and to remove all Huawei equipment from the 5G network by 2027.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The Government conducted a comprehensive, evidence-based review into the telecoms supply chain, which was published in July 2019. The final conclusions of the Government’s Telecoms Supply Chain Review in relation to high risk vendors were announced on 28 January and provided the details of the additional steps it will be necessary to take to mitigate the risk from high risk vendors. This announcement made clear the Government’s intention to, over time, reduce our reliance on high risk vendors as market diversification takes place. We want to get to a position where we do not have to use a high risk vendor in our telecoms networks at all.</p><p> </p><p>The conclusions of the Review were based on security analysis from our world-leading cybersecurity experts, and took into account the full range of issues and risks.</p><p> </p> more like this
