	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/05/2020 answer text <p>In response to recommendations of the Independent Review of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, (<a href="https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/803406/Independent_review_of_the_Modern_Slavery_Act_-_final_report.pdf" target="_blank">published on 22 May 2019</a>), the Home Office ran a public consultation ahead of potential changes to section 54 (transparency in supply chains requirements) of the Modern Slavery Act. The consultation ran from 9 July to 17 September 2019 and sought views on a range of proposals intended to strengthen the reporting requirement. Funding for projects aimed at early intervention and prevention will be considered as part of our spending review plans.</p><p>There will also be opportunities for those seeking to deliver interventions to steer children and young people away from serious violence to apply for funding from the Youth Endowment Fund. Operating over ten years, the £200m Fund will work with charities, statutory services, communities, young people and others to develop and fund the most promising interventions. Once closed, the Youth Endowment Fund will collate and release figures on the number of applicants and will include breakdowns for geography and the different categories of applicants. This includes:</p><ul><li>establishing the National County Lines Co-ordination Centre;</li><li>delivering in Offensive Weapons Act;</li><li>investing £220 million in early intervention and prevention initiatives to support children and young people at risk of exploitation and involvement in serious violence, through the £22 million Early Intervention Youth Fund and £200 million Youth Endowment Fund; and,</li><li>appointing Dame Carol Black to lead a major review that is looking into the ways in which drugs are fuelling serious violence.</li></ul><p>The work to tackle serious violence is ongoing and evolves according to the knowledge and understanding of our partners and the changing methodologies of criminals.</p><p>The Government is also recruiting 20,000 extra police officers over the next three years, ensuring violent criminals face swift and robust sentencing and expanding stop and search powers. As announced in the Queen’s Speech we are also introducing the Serious Violence Bill, which will put a duty on police, councils and health authorities to prevent and reduce serious violence. We have announced an additional £25 million of targeted investment to increase our efforts to tackle county lines, including expanding the National County Lines Co-ordination Centre. And through the Serious Violence Fund we have provided £100million in 2019/20 to the 18 police force areas worst affected by serious violence. These assessments are used to evaluate what kind of support services an individual requires during their outreach support.</p><p>There is no assessment of eligibility as both accommodation and outreach are available to any individual referred into the NRM. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/06/2019 answer text <p>In October 2017, the Government announced an ambitious package of reforms to the National Referral Mechanism (NRM), which were developed following the 2014 Oppenheim Review, an 18-month pilot testing alternative decision-making processes, and extensive stakeholder consultation.</p><p>Adults identified in the NRM can receive specialist and tailored support through the Victim Care Contract, where they can receive accommodation, financial support, assistance in accessing mental and physical health care including counselling, and access to legal support.</p><p>Through robust contract management we ensure the safeguarding of victims of modern slavery. The prime contractor for the Victim Care Contract, The Salvation Army, is responsible for ensuring that all subcontracted provision meets the needs of victims. The Salvation Army conducts regular safeguarding reviews and it has a duty to escalate to the Home Office any safeguarding concerns that it finds.
