	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/05/2019 answer text <p>The law is very clear that employers must make reasonable adjustments for employees and job applicants who meet the Equality Act 2010’s definition of disability, namely having a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term negative effect on the person’s ability to do normal daily activities. Where a disability is not obvious, it will be necessary for the employee or job applicant to declare their condition, but at that point the onus passes to the employer to meet its legal obligations.</p><p> </p><p>To help employers comply with the law, the Government has issued guidance on the duty to make reasonable adjustments, here: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/reasonable-adjustments-for-disabled-workers" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/reasonable-adjustments-for-disabled-workers</a></p><p> </p><p>In addition, guidance on this subject has been issued by Acas and by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, which has also published a statutory code of practice for employers. Peace settlements are 35% more likely to endure for more than 15 years if women have been involved in negotiations.</p><p> </p><p>Increasing women’s political participation and leadership is a foundational pillar of DFID’s Strategic Vision for Gender Equality, launched in March 2018, and is a top priority in the current cross-Government National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security.</p><p> </p><p>Just 24% of national parliamentarians around the world are women. DFID programmes are supporting women to participate in politics.</p><p> </p><p>In Nigeria, DFID’s ‘Women in Politics’ programme supports women elected to the National Assembly, including establishing the first women’s caucus as a forum for advocacy, policy development and training. In Afghanistan, DFID support has helped women provincial councillors who often face intimidation and violence in their work.</p><p> </p><p>Women’s voice and leadership can make a real difference on issues that matter to them.</p><p> </p><p>DFID has supported Amplify Change to fund women-led organisations that help women to claim their sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). The UK, alongside Troika partners Norway and the US, has called for all sides to engage in an inclusive dialogue that leads to a swift, orderly and peaceful transition to civilian rule. On 29 May our Ambassador delivered this message to Yassir Arman of Sudan People's Liberation Movement - North (SPLM-N) and encouraged all armed movements to return to Sudan and take part in the talks to agree a civilian-led transition and achieve peace. We have condemned the way that the opposition leaders have since been treated by the TMC since they returned.</p><p>On 4 June in a joint Troika statement, we condemned the recent violent attacks by Sudanese security forces against peaceful protestors in Sudan which left many civilians dead or injured. We also expressed serious concern over TMC's announcement that it would cease negotiations and called for an agreed transfer of power to a civilian-led government. Our Embassy in Khartoum calls on members of the Transitional Military Council both in public and directly to take the steps needed to improve the situation in Sudan, including the release of all political detainees</p><p><br>On 6 June, I summoned the Sudanese Ambassador to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to express our grave concerns at the use of violence against civilians by the Sudanese authorities. The UK has called for the human rights of all Sudanese people to be respected, and the resumption of the political process leading to an agreed peaceful transfer of power to a civilian-led government, as demanded by the Sudanese people. The UK strongly supports the mission of the International Criminal Court; due legal process must be followed. The UK, through the UN Security Council issued a statement on 11 June that called for the immediate cessation of violence against civilians and emphasised the importance of human rights, protection of civilians, accountability and justice. They also noted the announcement by the Transitional Military Council to investigate the incidents.</p><p>The EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) issued a statement on 17 June, which called for all human rights violations and abuses committed to be investigated in an independent and transparent manner, and perpetrators held accountable for their acts. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/03/2020 answer text <p>All hatred including antisemitism, is completely unacceptable and has no place in our society, which is why we’re taking a strong lead in tackling it in all its forms.</p><p>We recognise that there has been an increase in reported religiously motivated hate crime incidents across the country.</p><p>We are also aware that Greater Manchester had the highest number of antisemitic incidents outside Greater London over the last 10 years (2008-2018) according to the Community Security Trust, who are one of our key partners in tackling antisemitism and the main body reporting on the number of incidents each year.</p><p>That is why we became the first country in the world to adopt the working definition of antisemitism as set by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. We are making sure the police record hate crimes disaggregated by faith and our refreshed Hate Crime Action Plan reaffirms our commitment to combating antisemitism and our support for Jewish communities. We also are providing £14 million this year, and provided over £65 million to date, for the Protective Security Grant to protect Jewish schools and community buildings.</p><p>We have committed just over £1.5 million for projects to tackle racially and religiously motivated hatred from 2018 to 2020, and have just launched a new Faith, Race and Hate Crime Grant Scheme to promote integration and tackle hate crime, including antisemitism. This includes the recently announced extension to the programme which will support up to an additional 650 schools with up to £11.8 million being invested in 2020-21.</p><p>An Education Endowment Foundation evaluation between 2014 and 2017 found that supporting schools to run a free of charge, universal breakfast club before school delivered an average of 2 months of additional progress for pupils in Key Stage 1. We can help them maintain contact with family members; help them understand the local situation, and advise how to secure medication in the country in question, or signpost them appropriately. All our individual country travel advice pages include advice on how to access local medical care and prescriptions. In many countries, it is possible to make an appointment with a local doctor to arrange an alternative prescription. We recognise that local measures to combat the spread of Covid-19 are presenting challenges for some people and are working with authorities in each country to resolve these. In addition, The Association of British Insurers has announced that UK-Based insurers will look to extend travel insurance policies for 60 days to ensure British travellers stranded abroad will be covered for any emergency medical treatment they might need. In countries with which we have reciprocal agreements, British travellers will be able to benefit from those. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/04/2020 answer text <p>The UK remains committed to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA), as the best means of preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. We have worked hard with our partners to preserve the deal and believe that it remains in our national security interests. We, along with France and Germany, have met our obligations under the deal, including by lifting sanctions on Iran, and have gone beyond our JCPoA commitments by establishing INSTEX to help support legitimate trade. Iran's reductions in nuclear compliance, as confirmed by successive International Atomic Engergy Angency reports, have raised serious proliferation concerns, leaving the E3 with no choice but to trigger the JCPoA Dispute Resolution Mechanism (DRM) on 14 January 2020, formally referring Iran to the Joint Commission. We are clear that we want to use the DRM to resolve these concerns, and bring Iran back into compliance with the JCPoA. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/04/2020 answer text <p>The UK is playing a leading role in the global response to COVID-19, working with international partners to slow its spread. We are using UK aid to mitigate new health, humanitarian and economic risks across Africa and have pledged £744 million of UK aid globally to end the pandemic. The UK continues to work with partners, including the United Nations, to ensure aid reaches those most in need. We have provided health experts in key African countries and organisations. This includes a team at the WHO’s AFRO regional office in Brazzaville.</p><p>The UK is also providing up to £150 million to the International Monetary Fund’s Catastrophe Containment Relief Trust to help developing countries, including many in Africa, meet their debt repayments so that they can focus available resources on tackling COVID-19. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/05/2020 answer text <p>The Government has announced a total of £42.5 million to support clinical trials of vaccines being developed at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London. This funding is in addition to the £25 million committed through the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)-Medical Research Council and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Covid-19 Rapid Response Research Call<sup>1</sup>. The NIHR and UKRI have also jointly launched a Rapid Response rolling call for proposals to address evidence gaps and needs on COVID-19, which builds on the earlier NIHR-UKRI COVID-19 research initiatives.</p><p>Building on existing trial capability, national platform trials have been expanded to test the most promising therapeutics candidates as large Phase III clinical trials.
