star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to boosting home ownership and supporting first-time buyers and will do so by looking at all of the factors that influence ownership levels, including housing supply and the availability of low deposit mortgages. Since 2010, over 774,000 households have already been helped to purchase a home through Government-backed schemes including Help to Buy and Right to Buy.</p><p>On 9 June the Prime Minister announced new measures to help first time buyers into home ownership, including looking into reforming of the mortgage market to boost access to finance for first time buyers; and working to extend the Right to Buy to Housing Association tenants. We are also committed to completing our reforms to the leasehold system which will mean that homeowners should have far greater control over their homes and their lives.</p><p>We are increasing supply in tandem, working closely with communities to build more of the right homes in the right places all across England. The Government is also committed to delivering 1 million new homes by the end of this Parliament and continue working towards its ambition of delivering 300,000 new homes per year to create a more sustainable and affordable housing market.</p><p>We are also investing £11.5 billion in the 2021-26 Affordable Homes Programme which will build up to 180,000 affordable homes, should economic conditions allow.</p>

From April 2016 this includes reservists. We do not have data on Armed Forces service for lettings before April 2012. The proportion of new social lets to households containing someone who has served in the UK Armed Forces has remained between 2-3% throughout this period.</p> more like this

This includes considering how to increase the supply of a range of specialist housing, including housing with care, across the country.</p><p>This work will be taken forward in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care, building on the commitments set out in their recent white paper on adult social care reform.</p><p>The taskforce will examine barriers to increasing the supply of older peoples housing, as well as the issues older people face when it comes to considering their housing options in later life. This includes the role of the planning system in ensuring new development caters for a diverse range of housing needs. Further information on the taskforce will be announced soon.</p> more like this

We have clarified that we have no intention of excluding leaseholders who have moved out and sublet from the protections that will be in place (including those in shared ownership) for buildings below 18 metres in England. We will explore whether this support should extend to leaseholders who are buy-to-let landlords.</p>

star this property answer text <p>I urgently want to relieve the financial pressures facing leaseholders due to unfair and unwarranted insurance premiums. <br> I have called on the FCA and the CMA to conduct a review of the buildings insurance market to get to the bottom of concerning year-on-year price increases, and the restricted cover on offer to leaseholders. The FCA is currently collecting data on market conditions to inform their review. By better understanding the root and scale of this issue in a thorough review, the Government can seek ways to ensure leaseholders get the value for money they deserve. The review is part of a wider raft of measures to protect innocent leaseholders from the impact of building safety issues.</p> more like this
