	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2019 answer text <p>As announced by the Secretary of State for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport on 12 June, we will shortly be consulting on proposals to simplify planning processes in England to support the rollout of 5G and further improve mobile coverage in rural areas.</p><p>Public Health England’s (PHE’s) Centre for Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards takes the lead on public health matters associated with radiofrequency electromagnetic fields, or radio waves, used in telecommunications. Central to PHE advice is that exposure to radio waves should comply with the guidelines published by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). ICNIRP is formally recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO).</p><p>While a small increase in overall exposure to radio waves is possible when 5G is added to the existing network, the overall exposure is expected to remain low and well within the ICNIRP guidelines.</p><p>National planning policy sets out that applications for electronic communications equipment should be supported by a statement that self-certifies that when operational, ICNIRP guidelines will be met.</p> answering member constituency North West Hampshire answering member printed Kit Malthouse question first answered 12/06/2019 14:05:50 answering member 4495 label Biography information for Kit Malthouse

The Government is setting the policy and regulatory environment needed to ensure the right conditions for investment in the development of 5G networks.</p><p> </p><p>5G spectrum frequencies that have been granted licenses have similar properties to those which are currently used in mobile communications technologies. A considerable amount of research has been carried out on radio waves and Public Health England (PHE) have concluded that exposures of radio waves to the public are well within the international health-related guideline levels that are used in the UK. The independent Advisory Group on Non-Ionising Radiation (AGNIR) published their report in the UK in 2012 and the European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) published their report in 2015. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2019 answer text <p>Since the mid-2000s, when acrylamide was first highlighted as a food safety concern, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has worked with industry and European counterparts to mitigate the risks of acrylamide to consumers. It has developed a Code of Practice for food businesses; provided local authorities with guidance to ensure business compliance; and worked with catering establishments to reduce acrylamide formation during food preparation.</p><p>The FSA continues to take an active role in European Union/United Kingdom negotiations to develop a process for setting regulatory limits for acrylamide in certain products such as those intended for infants and young children.</p><p>The EU does not include acrylamide in its list of priority additives contained in cigarettes and roll-your-own tobacco that are subject to enhanced reporting obligations under the EU Tobacco Products Directive (2014/40/EU).</p><p>The best way to reduce the risk from tobacco smoke is to reduce smoking. These opportunities should be explored in both local plans and neighbourhood plans that look to allocate housing.</p><p>The Framework also makes it clear that in rural areas housing development that reflect local needs should be supported. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/06/2019 answer text <p>The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has not had any meetings with the Secretary of State for Transport on the potential benefits for the farming sector of the introduction of E10 or future use of bioethanol.</p><p> </p><p>In increasing targets under the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation in April, the Government made clear that moving to E10 fuel could make achieving the UK’s renewable energy targets easier and provide wider economic benefits including in the agricultural sector.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Transport ran a call for evidence last year on whether, and how best, E10 could be introduced in the UK. Any decision to introduce the new grade of petrol must balance the needs of consumers with the emissions reductions it could help to deliver.
