star this property answer text <p>A review conducted by NHS England and published in July 2019, concluded that expanded access to radiotherapy services for patients in the Hertfordshire area was desirable through the provision of a satellite service in the north part of the Mount Vernon catchment area, but recommended that the core service issues should be addressed prior to this. The review of Mount Vernon Cancer Centre is ongoing to ensure the service is able to respond to the significant advances in cancer treatment over recent decades which includes identifying a specialist cancer provider to run the centre.</p><p> </p> more like this

Hon Friend the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care unveiled the Health Infrastructure Plan: a long-term startegic investment programme in the future of our National Health Service.</p><p>This included the biggest hospital building programme in a generation: £2.8 billion funding for 40 new hospitals over the next ten years, with six in the first wave (HIP 1), on top of the 20 hospital upgrades announced by the Prime Minister in August 2019.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to supporting the ambulance service to manage the pressures it is facing.</p><p>Investments in the ambulance workforce have increased the number of NHS ambulance and support staff by 38% since July 2010, and boosted 999 call handler numbers to over 2,400 at the end of March, 500 more than in September.</p><p>Ambulance trusts receive continuous central monitoring and support through NHS England’s National Ambulance Coordination Centre and there is targeted, intensive support to the most challenged hospitals to improve patient handovers, helping ambulances get swiftly back on the road.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust will benefit from £500million capital investment for a new major hospital, providing adult emergency and women and children’s services in one place. A consultation on the detail of the Trust’s proposals is currently underway and closes on 1 April.</p><p>The package of capital funding is part of the Government’s £2.7billion Health Infrastructure Plan (HIP) for six new hospital projects to be delivered in our first phase of major hospital rebuilds (HIP1) as part of our broader commitment to build 40 new hospitals.</p> more like this

In July, the Government announced £3 billion in additional funding, alongside £450 million for accident and emergency department upgrades and expansions. Similarly, we are supporting adult social care with a further £546 million of infection control funding over this winter. Where health policy is devolved, the devolved nations have benefitted from the appropriate Barnett consequentials.</p> more like this
